Hello! I am looking to buy a parrot. For those of you who've seen my previous posts talking about my budgie, my grandpa parrot-sat him for a week and got extremely bonded to him so I let him keep him. I've decided not to get another budgie. Right now I'm leaning towards Green Cheek Conure but I'm not 100%

What I'm looking for: Easily Trainable, Cuddly, Quiet, Medium Sized, and I would prefer if it can talk but no talking isn't a deal-breaker.

Birds I've already thought about but decided against: Budgie, Sun Cheek Conure, Blue Crown Conure, African Grey

Edit: Forgot to mention, I have school until 2:30 so I won't be able to spend time with it 24/7.

Cocktail? I hear they are great for a beginner parrot and they sing and are pretty.

I"m TOTALLY BIASED but I say conure.

Easily trainable: Conures pick up on routines and words all on their own, a cockatiel is like a 3 yo, a conure is like a 7yo, larger birds are smarter usually. Or so I've read

Cuddly: Conure no question,

Quiet: my bird actually knows when I'm sleeping and respects that. He only gets a little gripe-y when it's near bedtime.

Medium sized: Green cheek conures are much bigger than parakeets, about the same as cockatiels maybe a little hardier and sturdy, There are much large conures,

My bird knows about three phrases but uses them in proper social context. He understands about three more he's working on. And he, because of me has a ... "yosimitee sam cartoon" dialog of grunts and under the breath growl growl talk. Between body language rawr-rawr-rawrs and chirps and phrases we communicate very well. He can tell me what he wants more or less.

I would just shop around, or go to parrot rescues. See if one jumps out at you.....the bird usually picks it's owner.

when you find a bird that's all these please let everyone know! I'm sure we would love one that's all of those! Hell even just the first one haha

I would say it sounds to me like a Green Cheek or any of the pyrrha conures. There's more than you'd think!

I had a green cheek and he was a fast learner and the short time I got with him was amazing. He even learnt a few phrases in that time, hard to understand though. That will probably be your limit for noise of course, when they get a good screech on it's pretty shrill and the can be a bit nippy but both of those can be trained to minimize them. They're very nice birds, have a look at some and some Tiels and see if you become the chosen one
