what is a type of conure you would recommend for a family? what is a cage you have and what toys do you have in it. any pictures would be nice

Well , you have to give us more info than that. Are their little kidsa. What age ? How many people ? How much time you have at home ?

Also what are you looking in a bird ? I think a cockatiel would be good as conures need least 4 or 5 hours a day. Does anybody stay at home for the day like a house wife or if you could wake up early maybe you could fit in a hour ? If you could fit in another hour or 2 a gcc would be nice

Ideal bird can vary depending on what your family can handle.

If looking at conures, green cheeks, suns and blue crowns are popular!

Some not quite as well known could be dusky conures, brown throats, black caps, or???

Although, it may also depend on where you are located. Kani lives in Australia, and in Australia there are a limited amount of conure species available!

let me break it down according to genus..

pyrrhura conures are the best kind to have around a family, they are less jealous and less temperamental.

Aratinga conures can be really mean to certain family members, and become jealous of young babies.
i've also heard of aratinga conures trying to hurt anybody that gets close to their specific family member they bonded with.

in my opinion, green cheek conures are the most versatile conure for a family.

the only aratinga conure i would recommend for a family pet would be the dusky conure,
they are extremely docile, calm, quiet, and fun. they are also known to be less nippy.
they are also great birds for people that work a lot because they are cuddly and will stay in a happy hut all day even given the opportunity to play with toys.

if you get a green cheek, go for a cinnamon. they are less nippy, calmer, and docile. i dont know why..but they just are.

also, even though your children can probably handle the bird while you are at work without any problems, i would recommend getting a lock on the cage, with a combination not a key. you never know when a child might accidently startle the bird, causing a blood feather in which they can bleed to death.. or even worse, you have an extremely tame bird and your children get over confident and have an escape.

i was thinking of gettinga conure because i don't really like the colors of cockatiels. what is a good kind of green cheek conure

I have read the mutations in general are less nippy than the normal. Never heard mention of the Cinnamons being the least nippy. I have a Yellow Sided and he rarely if ever nips.

They're about like green cheeks, often mistaken for green cheeks, and occasionally hybridized with green cheeks.

i am not an adult. just a kid

Welcome to the forums...

Just wanted to mention, that you will grow into an adult way before you bird dies of old age, so you still need to take everything into consideration...

Green cheeks are awesome..
