I just wanted to get different ideas from you guys out there! What is the ultimate treat for YOUR bird?

Kiwi is a treat connoisseur, and his preferences change over time as he develops a more refined pallet:32:

Just kidding. Kiwi is a ravenous treat seeking demon and who likes all the junk food he isn't allowed to have. He likes chips, cereal, cheese, bread, and pasta. Since we eat almost all organic, it's not the WORST thing he could be getting, but I still crush up stuff like chips or cereal bits so he only gets very small nibbles and doesn't get too much salt or refined sugar. He gets bigger pieces of bread and cheese since those are a little healthier. Probably his FAVORITE treat of all time is pomegranate seeds, but pomegranates just aren't available except a short period of time each year:(

Lizzy loves yogurt drops :) and pizza. We only rarely give it to her and even then it's just the crust, but if she's out she will fly into the box for some lol. She has recently gotten into rye bread. We had a stack on the table for dinner and she landed on it, and ate a hole through the middle of the first two pieces lol. Now whenever she sees it she gets super excited.

Monkey loves pecans.
Monster loves nutriberries and walnuts.
Loki doesn't have any.
Folger loves almonds still in their shells.
The Cockatiels love everything these days.

Cookie will do ANYTHING for a sunflower or safflower seed.

Pomegranates and pine nuts...without a doubt, everyone's favorites:)

Sunflower and safflower seeds. Oh, and Nutriberries are birdie crack in our household, especially for my duskies. They'll fly into each other's cages just to eat the each other's Nutriberry. Such little thieves!

Terry, pomegranate seeds and pine nuts are a huge hit with our guys as well.

Charlie - safflower seeds and banana chips (have used pellets in training)
Jayde - dried fruit and seeds
Cockatiels - millet (have used seeds & pellets in training)

Another pomegranite demon over here! And pecan nuts in the shell too.

But the best, the ultimate, the gimmegimmegimme!!!! RIGHT NOW treat is a chicken bone! Percy will probably chew through his cage bars to get to one! I indulge him by giving him a well cooked chicken thigh bone every second sunday :)

You should freeze them, Kiwi. I take out the seeds and freeze them on a tray for about an hour and then pack them into containers in the freezer. Works like a charm and because they're we frozen 'spread out' they don't stick together in big clumps. A sharp shake of the container does the trick to get them nice and separate. And the defrost in minutes.

Meeka- sunflower seeds ( or anything someone else has lol :p )
Morpheus and Shyra- both love grapes but for Morpheus it's the only treat he will readily take from my hand

I've never seen a bird turn down a pistacio...

My macaws, however, look for those first in their food bowls... AND THEY BETTER FIND SOME! :) AND GOD HELP THAT OTHER BIRD WHO TRIES TO SNEAK INTO MY FOOD DISH AND STEAL MINE BEFORE I HAVE INSPECTED IT FOR MY FAVORITE NUTS...

Cashews are another favorite around here.

Yeah those are big around here too, but POMEGRANATES ARE A "TO BE ENJOYED OUTDOORS" kind of treat. The mess is considerable.

Strangely, Percy will not touch pistacios or cashews... Or pine nuts for that matter.

We can get pomegranate seeds all year round through our local health food store.

Perhaps he feels he is nutty enough as it is... :D

All five of mine have nut-centric pallets...

Banjo loooooves apples! As soon as he sees me eating one he starts to beg and bounces up and down on his perch all the while nodding his head.

Thats a great idea Percy! It is a lengthy process to feed Kiwi pomegranate:52:. He gets one or 2 seeds at a time, or else he will dye his little head red:eek: I know he's a rebellious 'teen' and all, but the red doesn't wash out for weeks;)

Bread crusts are a big one. None of my birds actively seek out my kids unless they have bread. Even Indy who gets battle ready whenever the kids get close will climb down the cage towards them as if to say 'You got something for me?'
