is his head bobbing up and down? he could be regurgitating, its usually a sign of affection for his mate. it is also possible he is choking? I'm sorry i can not be of much help, but to be on the safe side, i would call your avian vet and ask for advice. if it gets worse, or the vet is concerned, you should make an appointment. good luck, and let us know how it goes!
here's a link on choking in birds-

Have you taken your birds to the vet? How long have you had them? did the problem you were having the other day with your other bird ever get resolved? I saw that you posted about getting your birds to mate. I would take them to the vet before you give them a nesting box. from what i understand nesting and hatching adds extra stress to birds if yours are having health issues adding extra stress might not be the best idea at the moment. Hope that they are well soon!!! :)

ANN.... I am very sorry to hear about your cat.

thank you, he left his mark as a great cat, but is in a better place now <3
OP- i hope things are going well with your bird!

If it looks like he is yawning/biting at the air, he could also be adjusting his crop. My budgies do this from time to time when they eat seed too quickly. They'll stretch their neck out and bite at the air and yawn. Similar to what we do when we're popping our ears.

But as everyone else has said - a vet would be your first stop. :) For me, I know what my guys look like when they're doing that, but your case could be different.
