What does your Amazon smell like?

My oldest son.... Cookie... BFA.... beak smell is identical to clover honey. Sometimes it stronger than other times but never figured out why.

Thats awesome I want to smell an amazon!! Timneh my african grey smells like a birdie. Not much of any smell, but theres that birdie smell. Loving it!

My white fronted Amazon had a lovely musk smell when we were face to face eyeball to eyeball and I was talking to her. Also at other times when I could tell she was glad to see me. I LOVED it and called it her Amazon perfume. One day I told her "you smell good." A day or two latter when I was misting her she announced "I smell good!" It was too funny.

Kiwi smells musty when he's happy, so does my moms female amazon. Definitely something they seem to have control over. I think it's been discussed before and determined this is a trait unique to the amazon family. It has also been determined to be highly addictive to humans, i.e. the need for the other AA- amazon huffers anonymous

When I first got Gabby, I thought I was smelling his hand-feeding formula, some of which was stick caked on one of his feathers, even though he had been weaned for quite some time. I finally had to take a pair of pliers to crush the dried hand-feeding formula.

It turned out Gabby almost always had that sweet smell. It was his natural scent. We described it as smelling like honey. I've noticed it with Kizzy, too, but I have to be hyper aware because I'm so used to it after being around Gabby for so long.

I don't know about addictive, but I always found it pleasant. Amazon parrots smell so much better than other animal companions. XD

When Amy is "dirty" she does sniff kind of musty,but after a nice shower she has a sort of candy smell..a sweetness..hard to describe

Every time this question would come up, I was fascinated, now that I have Bingo, I understand. I can't describe it exactly but honey is very close. The smell gets stronger when my mom gets close to Bingo, he's always happy to see her.

You know, I'm going to have to watch for this. I lived with Gabby for so long I became totally accustomed to the smell and didn't notice any particular times he did it.

My mother dropped by today and Kizzy went completely bonkers with excitement, flying laps around the house like a maniac and buzzing my mother's head twice. That would have been the right time to take a whiff.

my tiel, smells so good! i dont even no how to explain it. it must be his natural powder, that tiels have. but he always smells so good.
i love having my birds close to me, its always comforting
