What's on your birds Christmas list this year? I need some ideas, Paco isn't telling me what he wants! He has been very nice, not too naughty so he deserves something good...

I haven't decided who's on the naughty or nice list yet, BUT, if mommy gets the sewing machine she wants for christmas, they might be getting some sweaters and happy huts/cozy corners.

Beyond that, more handmade toys and treats! I spoil them enough every other day of the year!

Hope Santa is good to you! Please do post some pics of your efforts in the New Year.

Kiwi is getting a 14" jolly ball I am decorating with all kinds of beads and things a parrot would like plus a few homemade toys:)

Santa-talons will be leaving him a lump of manu in his stocking though;)

I just ordered Zilla a new tabletop play stand for the kitchen so when she is allowed in the kitchen she has a "place" (not that she will stay on it, but it's worth a try right?) a seagrass mat (a big one we can decorate with all kinds of things) and various toy parts to decorate the mat and make/repair some toys.

I will also bake her favorite birdie bread and I'm gonna try some "healthy birdie cookies" this year, probably an oatmeal applesauce raisin craisin nutty soft baked cookie, since she prefers soft baked versus hard crumbly cookies.

Ms Jakiepoo just wants a new soccer ball with the bell inside. I can't seem to find any? The last one hit the floor and broke. BTW that's not jake screaming in the back ground. it's Rod and Reel the OWAs. Pretty crazy for a 45yr old nape.Anyone find them let me know, i'll buy several.

My Grey is getting an Indestructabel (acrylic-enclosed bell to increase life, be more safe, and to not be so loud). The Galah is getting his favorite wood toy. Lovebirds are getting coconut swing and trapeze-style grassmat swing, and the parrotlets are all getting dunking duck toys (tips and gives treats). All birds are getting "candy cones," which are pine cones covered with seeds and goodness. They ALL love these (and they were on sale!), from the smallest to the largest (messy but, it's okay, it's Christmas).

I've seen soccer balls like that with cat toys before, might be worth a look!

That is so sweet. If I run across any I will let you know.

Great thread idea!

I'm planning on getting Raven a flight suit (clothes, lol). Like a little kid, I'm sure he'd much rather get toys than 'clothes'! I haven't ordered it yet, so might be belated. He'll probably get a little toy too. Robin is getting a new shoestring toy, which is an all time favorite. It can literally keep him busy for hours on end, and one can last months. Griffin is getting a toy also. The budgies absolutely love swings in their giant flight cage, and have several, so another swing of yet a different style for them.

I'm hoping I can put my sewing skills to work to make some clothes for the birds, might try making a flightsuit/diaper for my cockatiel, just for in the house and to get her used to it. I've already got fabric for happy huts/corners and I'm so anxious to get sewing!

What's the shoestring toy? It sounds like something my birds would enjoy.

That's where i found them before, just can't find any now. If you see them in your area, get me some. I'll be happy to pay whatever.

I have a box of chew and preen toys, as well as a 5# bag of Harrisons I got on sale for $35 from Drs Foster and Smith. I think that will be her Christmas gift, lol

Well since I dont have very much money this year,im sticking to making my birds toys out of beads, string, cloth, and I already made them a happy hut!But dont get me wrong, i'm not only making toys for them, but im going to spoil them with treats(not too many)!
if I were you,(depending on what kind of bird you have,)i'd take him to the pet store and let him browse the toys and treats section just to see what he likes.
But,they also like cat toys too!Little plastic balls, feathers on a string,a little bean buddy(tiny stuffed toy),ect. Honestly, just get him what he likes!

That did give me a little giggle when you said you hope to get a sewing machine so you can make sweaters lol. Little bird clothes, that's a cute visual :). I wonder who will have a little disgruntled facial expression? "Oh no, she's making us clothes! haha.

Hold on, I'll post a pic of the shoestring toy...

I actually bought a large sea grass mat. Are you using raffia to attach the toy parts? I havent done it because I was afraid Paco would get his toes caught in the holes of the mat. I'd love some ideas what you are putting on your mats, I think that would be a great Paco gift! He is a DYH so he needs sturdy stuff! Ideas would be great, I will get working on it this weekend!

Made me giggle as well. I pictured her fids having an ugly Christmas sweater party....

Liz, here is the "shoestrings" toy you were asking about. It's by Aronico. As the strings get shredded and worn out I take then off the ring. The ones in the second pic don't look too bad yet. Oh, and it comes in 2 sizes. Same strings, but the larger one is just a bigger ring to hold more strings.

That looks easy to make! I might have to visit the dollar store for some shoestrings... hmm..

I ordered Doobie and Mickey Things For Wings Christmas baskets and it's already arrived. The conures will get furry beds and a toy each. The lovies will each get a little toy...
