So I took the fan blades off of the ceiling fan in my kitchen. I felt bad because she loved hanging out up there but couldn’t stop herself from chewing on the crappy wood. So without even missing a beat she flies in and lands with no problems at all no hesitations. So I give her props for fouling my plan. I’m wondering if it would be safe to hang any ropes from the metal or think I should avoid any further temptation. She was also trying to wedge her grey bar (crowbar) in between the ceiling and the fan to bring it down so maybe best just to avoid what’s your thoughts guys?

I must say she does not seem happy with me. My offerings to the goddess were accepted so I hope her blessings will be forth coming again. Lol

I was gonna post a picture of Timnehs payback as she destroyed my keyboard but the flash went off on my phone And accidentally scared the crap out of her. Poor girl.

Oh yes... I think any kind of climbing equipment would be appriciated.
She looks really happy up there, her own little kingdom.

These fids do like to go to the highest vantage point to observe their kingdom's, and of course their pet humans. I think adding ropes/swings etc will only compound the fan as an ok place to hang out. What ive done is to screw in a stainless steel eye screw in to the ceiling at a point in the window where the joists above run. I then put hanging toys/ladders/swings from it using a caribiner. Enzo loves going to this now and away from the door tops where she used to hang...and chew. he will actually climb up the hanging toys sometimes and pushes her head t othe ceiling, again, they do like to be as high as they possibly can.

The nice thing about this for me is that once Enzo has gone to bed, I can simply unclip the hanging toy and apart from an indiscrete eye bolt, all parrot props are removed.

HTH

Please remove the current style light bulbs (ASAP) and replace them with LED 'daylight' series bulbs. The current style will break within the range of pressure of her Beak and that will be a serious problem both from the contamination of what is inside and the very tiny pieces of glass. And yes, she is clever enough to figure out the how too part.

But in all reality that is funny! She wins again!

Check around, I believe that their are some plastic blades on the market. I believe that are for outside use.

These birds!!!! Light bulbs now! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] good suggestion tho.

Thank you light bulbs are gone. My landlord (MY Mom) we share a duplex I live on one side they live on the other. Doesn't want me drillling holes in the ceiling and stuff. But i think I will make some small ones what the heck.

The hole required is tiny, I just did a pilot hole then screwed the bolt in, when you come to remove a small scrape of plaster and a dab of paint will be all that is required.

Could you link the LED daylight bulbs? All I found were spotlight looking things :/

Take great care drill holes into ceiling tiles. They are commonly a fiber material and do not take well to patching when the bolt is removed. Also, they have very limited structural strength compared to drywall boards and better a ceiling rafter.

Try changing your search to something like: led daylight bulbs home depot Or, your favorite Big Box Store. With a multiple light fixture look at 40 watt bulbs or less. 60 watt can quickly be too much light, unless you need it or have a dimmer switch on that circuit. NOTE: If you plan on using a dimmer switch, you must buy LED light bulbs that define they are for a 'dimmer' application.

I grabbed these at my local dollar store They’re plastic instead of glass on the outside. There’s just a couple little electric lights no funky chemicals or anything in them. And as me. Boats has said these ones are non dimmable so if you need dimmable make sure you get the dimmable ones. I have a couple of those also and they work well.

And you thought you were smarter than the bird. I love/hate when my fids out think me but laugh. They are smart stinkers and I love the pics.

As for light bulbs, as mine have gone out I’ve been replacing with LED bulbs. Great energy savers, less heat and now I’ve learned safer for fids, awesome.
