Hi my name is mike and I have a quaker named ozzie… he is very well behaved and loves to play. When I sit on my couch he will always fly over to me and sit with me for hours.what he loves the most is when he flies from his cage to his perch I will fallow him and he goes back to his cage… sometimes ill catch him in mid air and tickle him and let him go… we do this almost every day and he loves this. It is very rare that I will be able to walk up to him and pick him up with out him flying away.. yesterday we were playing like that and when I tried to grab him in the air it threw him off coarse and he hit into the window.. he was a little distorted but he came around. I feel so bad.. ever since that he has been abnormally easy to step up… he steps up every time with out a fuss. I am worried now that he thinks I ment to hurt him and that he is terrified of me. My question is … is it possible for ozzie to be soo scared that he will listen better . I don’t want him to be scared of me.. I didn’t mean to hurt him .. some one please give me some info

Gotmike,

Your Quaker doesn't think that you are going to hurt him. He is probably just a little stunned. If he keeps acting strange, or begins to show signs of trauma, I would consider taking him to the vet. If he really was terrified of you, I don't think he would step up easier, he would probably hide or act aggressive. He is probably just a little confused.

My Quaker, Sam, was flighted in the beginning when he was wearing a collar. He had quite a few hard landings before he learned how to maneuver with the bulky collar. I would always just treat him extra-special after an incident, and keep a close eye on him. :)

I don't think he is scared of you. Him stepping up means that he trusts you. But, I know why you would fear this. It's probably all in your head.

Good Luck! :greenyellow:

that isnt being scared. if he was scared he would either fly away more or try to hide/bite.

ZF's right.....unlike dogs/puppies birds have the ability, unless they are severely clipped, birds will fly away/move away from you/stay away from you if it thinks you are being mean to it.....

If you sit and watch a flock of parrots at play, you will see them at play, chasing each other, arguing/beaking on a tree branch, even fighting in the air, but unless they are attacking neighboring birds, they come back to their roost at night.....

While you & Ozzie may find great fun in chasing each other, our homes can be a bit small for him to easily get away...I know that's the intention, but in his efforts to evade you, he can easily zig instead of zag and not see the potential in that maneuver, but I am pretty sure he did not hold any possible injury, against you...but...I might find a different game to play with him.....

Welcome to the forums.....

Good luck.....
