So I realized that I'd been forgetting to spray rain for my kids. I made it rain for them today. Jet started drinking the water off of his cage then ran up a d tried to drink the water as it came out of the bottle. So I poured some in a bowl and he drank some more. Is this normal or is Maybe he having trouble getting enough water from his tube? Oh and now he seems to be eating more voraciously than normal? Then again I've only had him 5 days and he is my first tiel so not sure what normal is.

Have you seen him drink out of the water dish? It's not unusual for them to like to Lick the water from the cage bars or spray bottle but please be sure he knows how to use your water dish.

He may not know how to use the water dispenser thing you have there- maybe offer him a regular bowl of water and see how much he drinks

I have a bowl of water on the floor now and used his treat bowl for water too. I have seen him drink from the bowl on the floor.
I've also seen him go to his waterer but don't know if maybe it's too small for his beak.

I personally prefer a "regular" water dish. I know it can be a pain if they dunk food or bathe in it, but a little trough like that would probably be quite difficult for him to actually get a good drink from. Keep in mind, birds can't suck like we can. They drink by licking or using the bottom beak as a little "scoop" for the water. He may not be drinking out of that thing because he doesn't know how or is unable to. Another thing is parrots should get most of their moisture from their food. Be sure he's getting lots of fresh fruits and veg in addition to a dish of fresh, clean water. I rarely see Kiwi drinking from his dish, but I frequently see him "juicing" fruits in his beak. It's how nature intended for them to 'drink':)

I'm trying to get him used to food other than seed. He does like cooked potatoes and carrots.

It's a step in the right direction:) Small birds especially may never have been exposed to anything but seed by their breeders and may not recognize fruit and veg as food. Just be persistent, and he will eventually try more and find some favorites. Grapes, berries, apple, banana and pomegranate seem to be some universally loves produce to try him on.

Jet is now drinking out of a water bowl that hangs in his house next to his food bowl.
