Valentino started moulting and soon he will enter the hard moult and will begin to drop wing and tail feathers. I realized my normal tin box I had for my mini macaws and eclectus feathers is way too small. Since I don't have anything to keep Valentino's long feathers in I went to thrift stores looking for a tin or wooden box long enough to store Valentino's wing and tail feathers in. What I did was purchase a donated silverware box (sans silverware) that was large enough then I sanded off the layer of polymer that was on it because it was all scratched up. I also removed inside the wood thing that holds the silverware in place so now the box is minus that but still lined in felt. I then decorated the top of the box with Valentino pictures and used some scrapbook stickers to decorate his box. I bought letters so I could spell out "Valentino's Treasures" on the box and am now in process of applying layer and layer and then more layers of Mod Podge hard clear coat to preserve the decorations. Here is a picture of the box before I began to apply the coating.
After I get enough layers on to protect the decorations and pictures I will then have a box to store Valentino's treasures in. Lupe wanted me to orginally name the box "Valentino's Goodies" Really? I think NOT! LMAO.
I forgot to mention I bought a little wooden frame and colored it green with perm marker and used that to frame the middle pic and put the words around.
