Urate and liquid but no poop?

Hi,

It feels like way longer but our baby Skye has been home for 16 days. She's about 3 months old and was cleared as in good health by the vet on 5/7. She LOVES her Harrisons pellets and is eating/drinking normally. The only thing that was different about today vs every other day was that I gave her only birdie bread for breakfast vs birdie bread + pellets like usual.

For at least the last 4-5 hours, all of her poops have either just been liquid or urate or both. The urate is white but the liquid has been clear and, at least once, yellow. I got pooped on a couple times this morning that were normal but her poops this evening have all been like this. I don't know if it's a coincidence but she's also adjusting her crop a lot and being more vocal/needy than usual. (She's walking around my lap and squeaking, ignoring her favorite toy, as I type this).

I kept trying to tell myself it was because of the increased water content of the birdie bread but she keeps not pooping any, well, actual poop and she's had plenty of pellets since then.

Should we be taking her back to the vet asap tomorrow if she doesn't pass anything by morning? Could prune baby food help tonight (if I could even get her to eat it)? Any other suggestions?

WE HAVE REAL POOP, GUYS!

It is the biggest poop I've ever seen her make but it looks otherwise normal. Seems like I was worrying for nothing.

Ha ha, I figured that was going to happen. It's awesome that you're paying that close attention to her droppings and her behavior, by all means do not stop doing that!

Their droppings will change color, consistency, and mass based on what they eat and when they eat it, for example, if you feed her fresh veggies and/or fruits, even if she also eats pellets, she's going to have a lot of water in her poop because they veggies and fruits contain a ton of water.

Thank you for your encouraging response! Being a first time birdie Mom is full of worry! I have faith I'll calm down as time goes on lol.

I didn't want to make a whole new thread for this question so here it is:

If I'm allergic to her (which, unfortunately, I am), am I likely allergic to all birds or just cockatiels because of their dust? It's not terrible, especially if I take Zyrtec, but I do get a runny nose and it's harder to breathe when she's near my face. It's something I'm more than willing to deal with because she's just become such an amazing addition to our family. I ask, though, because I'd like to get a GCC one day (in a couple years) but I would think twice if the addition of another bird would make the allergies worse.

it's more likely due to the dust, thankfully GCC's are oily birds so they don't set off allergies much (if at all)

You may also find over time your body builds a bit of an immunity to her being around her enough

That's good to hear! I'm going to apply to volunteer at a local bird rescue and I'm hoping that that exposure will help answer my allergy question for good. Plus, I need 200 animal-related hours to apply to the Vet Tech program I'm looking into, so it'll be a great way to help the birds and myself in many ways. :)
