Update on Peewee

I am so very sorry for your loss of Peewee. Fly high over the Rainbow Bridge sweet baby. Watch over the ones who loved you here on earth.

I too have had to deal with incompetence from an avian vet concerning my macaw with leg disibilities & their thoughts that I had abused him since he couldn't stand & has a deformed wing as well. Both due to birth defects. Unfortunately for me she is the only avian vet within 200 miles. I don't understand these modern day vets & their attitudes when you are grieving the loss of your precious bird.

So sorry Peewee didn't make it! Do you think it was an issue that you adopted her with? I would assume so, since it happened in such a short time frame... something she was probably hiding before you adopted her and perhaps the stress of a new home and all the changes allowed her system to weaken enough that it made her sick.

Necropsy was done Monday. Still waiting on histopathology to determine if/what kind of heart issue she may have had. She did not show any signs of the differential diagnoses that the crappy vet put out. She did, however, have atherosclerosis in her descending aorta, which reduced the size of her kidneys slightly, and her heart was mildly enlarged. Fluid in lungs and airsacs. Her regular vet (who did the necropsy, and if you are in the L.A. area I highly recommend him-PM me) told me how he would have treated her and with what he currently knows he would give it a 50/50. He would have tried to diagnose her heart condition and treat it if possible.
Her problems could absolutely be from her prior living situation.

I have part of the answer, which helps some. I heard her favorite song today on the radio and thought of her dancing. She just loved 'Boogie Oogie Oogie' by A Taste of Honey.
