Hi all. Today I went to meet some birds at a breeding place and it went very well. Gave me a chance to come to a decision and for now I'm going to wait until next year before looking at getting a bird.
I met a couple nice birds, a Kakariki that liked bouncing on top of his cage, a couple conures who liked my hair and even a little budgie that gave kisses. The cockatiel I met didn't particularly like me (the species seems to have a thing against me) and I even met a Caique who whilst very funny and lovable was a bit too rough and beaky for my taste.
None of them had the spark of love/bonding that I had when I met Rio so it confirmed to me that I should wait. Luckily they have babies aplenty and hand rear lots of them. They even had some Pearly conures and Black cap conures which they said were slightly quieter than standard Green Cheeks. I definitely think I'm going to get a pearly when I am ready if one likes me as I'm so amazed by their beauty
