Squeaky- green cheek
My gcc Squeaky has always had a strong bond with my 6yr old son Mylo. He has been a wonderful bird, never to loud, didn't nip too hard (most of the time anyway), and very loving and funny. Well recently, he is acting very overly obsessive with Mylo. Any time that my son leaves Squeaky's line of vision, he panics. He sticks his beak between the cage bars, quivers and flaps his wings frantically (as if he is trying to fly to him) and squawks the most high pitched, ear-splitting, LOUDEST squawk I have ever heard him make. He frantically climbs all over his cage to try to get a view of him. I have my so go inside before he leaves for school to reassure Squeaky, and tell him "it's ok, I'm still here, I will be back", it did seem to help at first, but now he just keeps carrying on. He only has started to behave this way within the past couple of months. I do realize birds are going to be noisy, but this is a new behavior for him, and this isnt just his normal everyday vocalizations.I am open to any suggestions. He does get his out of cage time, and he eats a healthy balanced diet. He is also starting to bite hard enough to draw blood from time to time. I'm just concerned because this is so out of character for him. And, quite frankly, extremely annoying and frustrating. I am willing to try anything to try to see a difference. If I can figure out how to upload a video, I will. The only difference in routine, is that my son started school in the end of Aug ( but this has only been happening for a couple months) and also I am almost 5 months pregnant and starting to show. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated! :):green2:
