Umbrella cockatoo cage

Maybe lecturing wasn't the best word but I was at a loss as to what else to use. I have read every word posted to this thread and like I said, I'm very thankful for the advice I have gotten. Again, I'm very aware of the challenges of a cockatoo and I'm up for it. Of course I still need to talk to my family but that is for sure going to happen before I give my friend a definite answer.

I'm grateful for the pictures and it gives me good ideas on how to set up the cage but unfortunately it's hard to judge dimensions via a picture. Could I get the dimensions of the cages Allee and and ToMang0? And possibly the name the cage? Thank you very much.

From what you've stated, I think getting this bird would be a huge mistake - for you and the bird. U2s are just about the most difficult birds you can get. And, not trying to be a smart-ass here, just an observation, but your mention of getting a town house shows that you really have no concept of the noise level. Which is understandable, it is hard to fathom without having lived with it. But a U2 in a townhouse will absolutely bother your neighbors. I have an M2 and live in a single family home on several acres with my closest neighbors being 300 yards away and they can hear mine sometimes. Fortunately it is far enough removed to not be a problem, but their voice is unlike anything that can be explained by reading about it or watching videos.

I know you probably think this is a personal attack, but that is not at all what I am intending. I am simply trying to be frank about the fact that a student who doesn't own a home is not the right home for a U2. You said you don't want him to have to keep losing homes, which should be everyone's goal when getting a new pet, but I would bet that every one of us who has a large 'too sees a re-home coming if you get this bird.

Again, sorry to be so blunt. Re-reading this it sounds harsh, but I am trying to not sugar-coat it. So, I apologize in advance for the "lecture".

I think you original question was cage size.
Personally I would recommend a 48 x 36 cage, probably a kings cast iron ( I like stainless, but it can be broken by big birds, I have been told that the cast iron is stronger [and of course cheaper]).

The more room the better, but you know that. I lean toward the 48 x 36 because you can fit several large toys in that cage and still room for the bird to move around.

Best of luck to you, hopefully you get more feedback on your original question.

I was just wondering if you had ever gotten the issues ironed out and managed to get the U2 to your ur house finally. I hope it all worked out for you.
Our U2 us in a cage something's like someone hadn't shown. It's the largest wrought iron elegant cage that A & E cage 🌀

No I haven't gotten the bird, the idea is still floating in the air but I'm starting to back away from it. As people have said it's likely not a good suit as of now and a variety of other reasons.
I'd still accept the bird and care for her if it came down to the aunt having to need her to go immediately, but from what I understand there's no rush in re-homing her and I haven't even been able to get answers on why she wants to re-home the bird. Communication has been rather fragile and unstable with the aunt and it's getting very frustrating.

I can see where you would think they are lecturing. You came here for cage advice and nobody knew your level of experience. I think everyone is trying to help so I would take it as nuggets of knowledge. You will have a lifelong friendship and some amazing times together. Everth I no you put in you will get back. How exciting for you!!

All of King Cages Superior cages are currently 25% off... Add the cage to the cart to see the final price. I think that the King Cages are the best out there. Good luck.

And I'm not sure why the playstand pic got flipped upside down.
It didn't. It was already upside-down, and your image and file-viewing programs flipped it rightside up for you. But that requires an AI layer that phpBB doesn't have, and won't for a long time. You're the second person I've seen complain about it on a forum this week, so I imagine at some point it will annoy enough people that the developers will add an option to rotate uploaded images.

I wasn't complaining about it I just didn't understand why ^^;; whenever I upload pictures directly from my phone to imgur it works fine, I'm not sure of imgur has this ai that flips it upright but yeah. It's not a big problem imo just something I commented on.

Poppy spends a lot of time outside her cage, she loves her play stand.

I hope that answers some of your questions. Thanks for offering a home to a cockatoo. Please keep us updated.

Do you have any trouble with Poppy pooping in the bowls on this play stand?
Sorry to hijack the thread
