Gilbert Oliver, Blue Crown Conure; Georgie, Sun Conure (2/8/01-8/8/12) RIP little girl; Percy, budgie 1993-1999. RIP Pepito-spanish timbrado canary
Gilbert went for his initial exam yesterday. They did all the usual stuff, the gram stain on the dropping, the blood work (i asked for the complete blood profile as well as the test for polyoma and chlamydiosis). Today i got a call that his dropping showed a little bad bacteria and a little yeast. We are treating with medication before he gets sick!

His bloodwork will probably come back good, since he appears to be a healthy & happy little guy.
Hoping the anti-fungal and the antibiotic clear his system and he is 100%!

Makes me glad that he went right away for an exam!! On such a little guy, i wouldn't want anything lingering.

Here he is checking out the camera this morning. :)

Sounds like a good investment in an intial exam! I'm sure he'll be fine since you've caught things very early. He is so adorable!

How is Gilbert Oliver doing on his medicine. Sounds like you caught it before he even felt anything wrong. Don't fret, he's in good hands.

So far, so good. He never "got sick", and we were hoping to get the meds in him before it happened. His bloodwork should be back on Wednesday, so i'm hoping for all good news for him. He doesn't enjoy when i give him the medicine. This morning i was good for 4 drops and then i must have loosened up and he wiggled and i got one in his nose. He sneezed it right back in my face and gave me this look as if to say "have a little respect here!!" Tonight when i gave him his med, he saw it coming and let out a tiny squawk. I did it quicky and gave him kisses and he was fine. :)

They do know how to make a fuss about meds sometimes, don't they.

Ok so while at Target pharmacy tonight I saw the flier for pet meds, you apparently can get them there now, anyway it also said they can flavor them like they do for kids meds. (if you dont have kids and dont know they can flavor any liquid med almost any flavor you want like 50 to choose from) but for dogs and cats they will have flavors like bacon, cheese, etc.
Maybe some day they will come up with seed flavor, or nut flavor for our lil fids!?! (hey, we can hope huh?! )

Haha, i live far from my dog vet and a couple times when a med wasn't working, he would call a different med in at my local Rite Aid. My dog once had that kiddie pink liquid medicine. I thought it was cute.
I was wishing the med tasted good too, because Gil sees it coming now and starts fussing. Luckily he is down to the last few days of it!

He is a great little guy. The pasta/spinach/white kidney bean concoction i made him is currently his favorite thing, but so far i have offered 3 brands of pellet and he has eaten some of each.
He was feeling confident enough yesterday to actually be slightly 'bratty', which was cute, and he went for a short walk down our block (in his carrier) with me and the dogs. He seemed to be enjoying the excitement.
My one dog (the baby) is starting to be so jealous of him. He whines and barks when Gilbert eats. Gilbert seems to think he is just silly. (He may learn the food toss like Georgie did, ay yay yay!)

The infamous food toss to the dogs, sheesh! Lol at least the dogs keep most of the food off the floor huh? The cage area is my dogs favorite place to hang out if they want a snack!
