Hi Everyone, Always Loved Watching The Wild Biirds, Feeding Them Also! But Have Never Had A Pet Bird. So Today Im Sitting In The Yard Cat Laying Around Ane We Hear LOUD squaking What Is THAT I Say TO myself. Get Up And Look And See Big Red, Blue And Yellow Bird! Go Get Wife Start Talking TO them One Comes Down On a lower branch then jumps on wifes back, it looked worn out, panting. very tired, other bird wont come down get a dish of water drop tale gate on truck first bird starTs gulping water And squaking, the second bird flies down starts drinking both look very tired and hot. fed and watered now we are pals cant leave them make all kind of racket, walk out and they fly and get on sholder. its pretty cool but what now? have to be tame, where is there mommy and daddy? that's my story and stcking to it!

That is a crazy story! It sounds like they are very used to people to be willing to come to you like that, I imagine someone is very very sad and missing two feathered kids.

So fantastic of you to give them fresh water and some friendliness. You very well could have saved their lives. Now the key is to make sure they can stay safe. Are you in a position you could house them inside temporarily? Are you thinking maybe you want to try and keep them if you can't find the owner?

Feel free to ask any questions you may have, we will do our best to help.

Thank you for joining the forums!! Very nice of you to help and care about these macaws! Can you share with us the general area you live, and whether they naturally fly free? Trying to understand if they are escaped pets or young birds that are separated from their parents?

Well Rooster, welcome. You have someones birdy kids, they must be frantic. So - if you're not going to keep them ( not reccommended - macaws are tough first birds - 2 of them would be really tough) list them on the local Craigslist in the pets and lost and found, and other lost pet sites. You can keep them overnight in the bathroom, after removing anything remotely soap, fragrence , shaving etc -like. Its a small room that can be darkened so they go to sleep. Reallt tough call here. THinking about keeping them? you are looking at $1- 1.5K between cage, vet chekup, toys, foods, etc, etc.

Good on ya for caring either way.

Been there.
Use the search here.
Go to the macaw section and start from the back and read forward.
Birds are a trip and a lifestyle.
Good luck
