Tonight my 3.5yo son, Levi, looked at Tsali my CAG in his cage and suddenly got upset.
L:”Mommy, Tsali is sad”
I looked at Tsali, he looked fine.
Me:”No honey, he’s fine.”
L:”no, he’s sad. Where are his friends? Where are the other birdies?”
Me:”they are all in their cages.”
L:”maybe he wants his friends. Go get them.”
Me:”no honey, Tsali doesn’t like the other birds to come in here. That would make him mad.” (Tsali rules the dining room and truly hates intrusions into his territory)
L (stares and thinks for a while): Maybe he wants his dinner?”
Me: “He already had his dinner, see- wait. Where is his dinner?”
Sure enough he had a full bowl of veggies sitting on top of his cage.
Seriously, he did NOT look or act upset! But somehow my little kid picked up on it when I didn’t notice ANYTHING. Poor Tsali would have gone without his dinner and I wouldn’t have noticed until morning! I went and double checked the other cages just in case but it was just the one cage.
Levi and Tsali have only hands-off interaction because of his age but they’ve always seemed to have a special bond. I don’t have a recent picture of them together but here’s the first time I caught them sneaking friendship, about 2 years ago.
