Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
Now that the storm has done it's damage, the East Coast is trying to recover. The whole state of CT was suppose to get a severe whacking and heavy rain, but the storm stayed west of us going into New York. We did get some rain but no flooding except along the coastal regions, but we did get high winds, gusts were recorded at Bradley International Airport at 83 mph. In the south central part of the state where I live the wind was from 40 to 60mph.
We didn't suffer any major damage (i.e. trees down) but I did spend the last few days chain sawing large limbs and toting them off to the local compost yard in a utility trailer making a couple trips, that was over whelmed with vehicles.
Some folks weren't so lucky. My friend John and his wife live in the center of town, their house built in the early 1800's,and it sits in the back behind two other houses. They have a very small back yard, prolly 1/8 acre but it is a mini oasis. Johns wife calls him "Farmer John" coz he is always tending his garden of 'maters and 'taters, cukes, squash, corn, peas and beans ect. ( he picked 1400 tomato's last year )
The yard is also a haven for birds..a couple feeders, houses, two hummingbird feeders and the State of CT recognizes the yard as a Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary. It is truly beautiful, tranquil and relaxing.

Here are a few pictures I took today of the carnage he is now dealing with while waiting for insurance idiots to come and look  Two sheds and his garage and 2011 Chevy Silverado got trashed.

Yeesh, there were several tornadoes near my neck of the woods, but thankfully not much damage. Others weren't so lucky. It sure was a sight to see three people, a cat, and a greenwing trying to cram into our tornado safe room, aka a coat closet.

Horrible storm, so much wind damage. A friend on Long Island was without electricity for 2 days and said it looked like a war zone.

Awesome pics Jim! Is that Amy checking out a huge perch second to last image?

Wow, I didn't know that CT has such beautiful tropical Parrots! :D

Amy is clearly enjoying the choices of new perches there.

Trees of size and sheet metal are never a good mix. My sister in-law suffered the effects of a dam breaking upstream of them in May of this year. They are still cleaning-up. May your friends not suffer as long.

Wow. These storms seem to affect more people these days, with longer paths of mayhem. They also lowered the threshold fir calling and naming storms, started out st 59mph maintains, then 45 mph maintain winds, then this year 40 mph winds. This allows insurance companies to charge a higher deductible fir a named storm , at least in Florida. A named storm detectable is way higher , so if I had damage from a non named storm $500 deductible a named storm $4,000 deductible!!!!

So it was announced this year that 40 mph would be the threshold for naming a storm because poor insurance companies....

I’ve been through a hurricane damage claim and they try a lot of things to prolong the claim pay out, sbd to lower pay out amount, if I have to do again I will get a lawyer or private claims adjuster.... one if the tactics they use is they are overwhelmed, then your a gent is on vacation or quit or was moved to a dry area, so yiu keep dealing with a new representative. It took almost a year to get my claim straightened out, I had to finally tell them I was preparing to get a later and sighted their tactics and the building code and lot of stressful stuff to get it done. That’s why I think a lawyer might tge option I’d go with in future

Then a year later my insurance comply claimed they didn’t have proof of work and dropped me, even tho I told them I had the emails, the letters and the inspectors report, they said they didnt care and case closed, this happened to several people I know with different insurance companies...

Yes Scott it's my boy! :p

Our town is the only town in CT that generates its own electricity. You can see billboards on the highway touting Wallingford as "the lowest electricity in the State" Ever Source provides most electricity for the state. Our Governor is super p.o. because as of this morning there are still 300k without power. Ever Source is claiming they had sent crews to other states not realizing we were going to be hit as hard as we did. :22:

As long as you and Amy and Beebs are OK I am relieved Jim. We had no power for almost 2 days, and the storm freaked Salty and our dog out. Salty in particular was upset, as with only flash lights and candles(electric), evenings were now spooky with lots of shadows and dark. SO no training sessions, and early to bed for Salty, both of which are highly unusual for us.
