Orange Wing Amazon
Just curious what the favorite traing treats are. I am looking for small treats for Tika. I got some kinda of oat mix treat today and she seems ok with it but not really working for it either - maybe because I keep her a bit too well fed.... Anyway what are your birds favorite do anything for it goodies?

Any kind of nuts in particular? I saw some pine nuts today and thought maybe, but I also read that you have to be careful feeding nuts too....Oh and sorry Crash Conure... I have a Orange Wing Amazon.

nuts seem to be a favorite among many birds i have seen nuts work for african greys, cockatoos, macaws and conures so maybe it could work for an amazon too. my dad's macaw who i will be inhereting loves macadamia nuts thats her all time favorite, my conures loves pecans. I would just get a bunch of unsalted mixed premium nuts and experiment

All of our birds LOVE these. Kaytee » Fiesta Yogurt Dipped Sunflower Seeds - Blueberry Yogurt when we got Billie he came with about half a bag of them and we have been buying them ever since. They are only like $4 for a bag and it has a lot in it and all of our birds love them. I actually want to get some of the bigger yogurt dipped treats for the zons and alex since they like them so much. They smell amazing too, like blueberry bubblicious gum. My friend was over the other day and I told him to smell them, he thought they smelled so good that he ate one and said that it wasn't bad lol

The only thing that Bob will treat as a treat is millet. She seemed to enjoy the brazil, and filber nuts I shared with her, but did not go after them the way she goes after millet.

Tate goes crazy for pumpkin seeds. He gets so excited when he sees me pull them out.

Wow lots of great ideas, hopefully some of these ideas will intice her... Much thanks

I think Merlin and Rowdy would go anywhere for a Nutriberry. With Pete it's nuts (he's an amazon). I buy him a mix of almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts and Brazil nuts. Might be good to crush them so you aren't feeding a ton of them, but even one ounce of nuts is like 20 so supposedly you can't really overfeed them. But, of course I'd rather he eat more veggies and pellets than nuts.

I have a quaker parrot and he would kill for a piece of corn chex cereal. It agood lucklso breaks easily into smaller pieces. Just do not tell him its good for him. alison and sweetie pie

Pine nuts, shelled. They are small and perfect for treats when training.

Thanks everyone. Yes Aliray I am finding that Tika likes the chex too, I had been giving her some when I eat breakfast, hadn't thought of it being a treat, duh...

Max responds very well to verbal praise, but gets offered a nut to go into his cage...

Max is fully flighted,. 6 months old and I finished weaning him... I'm currently teaching him to be touched... His reward: I stop... Whenever I touch him, he can move away (fly away).. He's getting much better at getting touched, as he would rather be on me than on a perch...
