I forgot to ask, since I have a pair of Sun's one female and one male, if I am going to be training them is it best to have them separated, each one in there own cage, or only take one out at a time in another room to train and then return to the cage they are both in? I don't think I should try to train both of them at the same time correct?

if u have 2 sun conures its going to be super hard to train even if u seperate them they look like are breeders and not pets if u want a super tame sun conure u could breed the ones u have and handfeed one of the babies and the baby will come out super tame and yes dont train them at the same time keep each one in a different cage and work with each one alone

Ok, well I do have a spare bedroom I can put them in. There's nothing in the room. I can put the cage in there. There is a breeding box already attached to the outside of the cage. If I am going to let them breed do I still keep toys in there cage or should I take it all out. And I understand very little human interaction, other then to feed them, water, cleaning the cage and that's it. Someone just told me they breed between Dec - March. So maybe that's why the male keeps humping my hand cause hes ready. They are both 4 years old. The male though is super nice with me. So now I guess I should not play with him until they breed.

yes u could leave there ur choice but i wouldnt leave the toys because u want them to be interested in the nestbox and not the toys and u should do u research just go to different web sites ask lots of questions make threads for questions u have

Every bird should have toys!!!! I breed birds and every cage here as a least 6 toys in it, more if there is room! Just because they are breeders doesn't mean they shouldn't have a happy wonderful life. Birds need toys they are not opational!

Decide what you want from the birds, for them to be pets or breeders. Then go from there.

but when my birds breed and i leave toys they always lose interest in the nestbox and if they lay eggs the female will not want to go back beause only thing she will do is play with toys yes i leave toys in my birds cage but when they breed i remove toys until they are done besides they will be to busy for toys setting up in the nestbox laying the eggs and incubating them i doubt they will have any time to play with there toys and plus this might be the first time they are breeding so if there are toys they may distracted to even look at the nestbox and they will be distracted more easier and will cause either the eggs to be unfertile or no eggs at all also toys are meant to occupy there time they have enough time to occupy there time by setting up nest box mating incubating eggs and care for there babies so i dont really think toys are that necessary for breeding

I breed Sun Conures alone with many other birds and all my birds always have toys and I have no problem with them not breeding! I have problems getting them to stop!!! My Sun Conures would do 3 or 4 clutches(or more) a year if I let them, all of that with tons of toys. Sorry I think it is cruel to take their toys away! I don't force my birds to breed by giving them nothing else to do but breed. I would hate to sit in a cage all day with nothing to do all day. They use them to build a nest and put them in good mental state to breed. A happy healthy pair of birds will breed more anyway. Sun Conures are my # 1 pairs around here so I must be doing something right.

ok so they can but it doesnt mean they have to in the wild when there breeding they dont have toys all they do is setup there nests and look for food im not saying toys are useless im just saying u dont need them when breeding in most aviarys u dont see toys put up when they are breeding after they are done they could play with there toys and if u have the toys in the cage they will probably rarely use it and be more focused on building there nest instead of playing yes if they have time they will but they mostly dont have time to play with toys they have babies and eggs to take care of

Birds have all the best toys in the world in the wild - that's what we are trying to copy with our pet birds...

Just a thought, Cockatielfan... Don't they teach you punctuation in school these days...

I can generally read your one-line posts, but 4-5 lines without a punctuation mark I find difficult...

I honestly don't mean to be rude..

Everyone here knows I am no bird expert but I would think any living, feeling, breathing creature you bring into your home deserves to be as happy as you can make it or frankly you don't deserve to have it.

For birds from what I have read this includes toys or many different types, textures and that offer them puzzles and things to work out since they are in a cage they don't have to search for food and stuff all day, so they need something to do. If they are happy and emotionally stable you will get better/more babies from them anyway at least from what I understand.

I am a Mom of 3 kids, one spoiled yorkie with a huge toybox, 2 kitties and a husband. I do a lot in a day but if I didn't have my toys (computer, books, netflix and such) I would pull every hair (feather) out of my head! (obviously I found time to breed :) )
