this seems to be a hot topic...how to train your bird. I think for the basic person on this forum, we don't know how to train or even know the basics. I'm one of those who are good at hand raising birds so they grow into a loving friendly bird. I am not confident in my training techniques when I have a bird that I did not raise myself.
Having said that, I have two here that I need to train. one is a crimson belied conure, and a budgie. neither are what I call well socialized, but to my advantage both are under 6 months of age so training could go my way :)
I decided since I really knew nothing about training a bird, I purchased some dvd's from Birds Tricks.com. I am going thru them day by day before I start training my two. some of them are audio and some are visual(I really prefer the visual)
Training a bird seems to be more complex than what I expected.

I know there are very experienced bird owners on here, if you can shed some light on what worked for you and your bird(s), that would be great;):rainbow1:

Good luck with the training. I have pair of cockatiels whom I tried to train but nothing came of it. And I have AG who recently joined the family. I watched guides on youtube which were very helpful. She now knows 3 tricks.

congrats on your new addition, I just love AG's. they are extremely smart. I love the cockatiels but I think you can only train them to a certain extent. thanks for your input.

I'm interested in the BirdTricks system. They have such a good website, I'd love to know if it lives up the to hype. Please tell when you feel you can make an educated opinion.
(Personally, I've just gone through every youtube video or blog relating to parrot-training, which is invaluable... but a lot more effort than if you can just find it all in one place.)

Best of luck :)

I have bird tricks and it seems great so far, I got it from the last owners of my greys. Granted, the book I got was about 600 pages on a spiral spine that was printed on only one side so suspect shipping was unnecessarily pricy. I'm no entirely sure if I have the whole thing yet, but the vids are great. I have used the first one (since I'm still on basic training) and it gives good advice, though I find their birds are trained much faster than mine.

Well now they have you on their e-mail list expect a new video sales pitch every other week, that being said the stick trick I use and explain here on the forum came from one of those videos. I really like the Good Bird INC. videos and no sales pitch to buy the other videos.

Thanks everybody. We brake for a week for this trick and now came back to it. I try to implement your advices, but Tosia still struggles with it. But I try to optimistic and we will keep trying
