Hi all I came across thus video on you tube and wanted to share it with all of you to show one approach to towelling
this is a method based on positive reinforcements and taking things at the birds pace

Remember also not to expect results as quickly as seen in this video this person has spent many many hours training his birds and such

It's just a great idea for having your bird get used to the towel should it be needed in emergencies / vet visits

Hope you enjoy

I really need to work more with my GCC on towels. Currently she hates them, equating them I think with her first vet visit. She doesn't even like anything that remotely looks like terry cloth, including the faux fur collar on my winter jacket. We've been working on and off to desensitize her, especially for showers (it's so much better than slippery skin or other wet surfaces) and as a "poop apron", but it's going to take a while. Our Sun however sees them as a safe haven - she'll burrow into one if given the chance.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the video. So much to take away from watching this video, I pray all members it and learn.
The guy is so correct in giving the bird time to adjust and "feeling comfortable" with the towel.
I approached exactly the same method with Mishka, took a month, but was so worth it in the end.
Thanks for sharing PR

Much welcome
I thought it a good one because he does not push the bird at all Its all at the birds pace which is what we need to remember when working to achieve positive results with our parrots

Just started it with pheonix today and going really well he is already ok with having it over his back just working on being totally wrapped and handled in it now
I'm glad he has a calm accepting nature makes it so much easier

Keep it up, at a very slow pace, and soon Pheonix will accept the towel with ease. ;)

I plan on trying that with Fred....if only to kennel him for travel. Right now I use a cage and it takes up a lot of room....
