I have heard toaster ovens have toxic PFOA type chemicals. Has anyone had problems with them? I don't have a working oven and it's my only way to bake...along with a plug in electric burner. Birdie is closed in cage during cooking because of hot burners but it's only one room...large room..no where else for him to go! So far he seems to be okay...

There are posts here about similar topics. I believe that they're under Teflon and/or PFOA. One may have your answer.

Unfortunately those coatings are showing up in more and more appliances these days, especially ones with heating elements. We have a Mueller brand toaster oven and that one does not use coatings on the heating elements. Be VERY careful with any other makes. THe coatings are used as anti-corrosion coatings to protect the heating elements.
