To Clip, or Not to Clip. ):

To our knowledge, Kiwi never learned to fly as a baby bird. We tried to teach him, but ultimately kept him clipped because he had no interest in learning by the time we got him. I clip 5 feathers in, so just enough he couldn't get lift (though he never attempts to fly). He has become an incredible climber and being clipped has not really affected his mobility at all. We just make sure he has a "way" of climbing to his big swing and play stand, and he's just as good as a flighted bird:) He also has (over time) learned to signal us when he needs to go potty or just wants to go home so we can give him a ride back (since he can't return on his own). As long as she's active, being cared for, getting interaction time and able to get around on foot, she'll do fine.
