Yellow-sided Green Cheek Conure - Hatch Day 12/11/15 - "Tiki"
While my house is clean (9 times out of 10 anyway), I miss the nice smell of candles.

While candles are absolutely a no go, I've read conflicting information about essential oils. Specifically young living essential oils.

I'm looking for input on diffusing young living essential oils in my home.

(Tiki's health is the top priority here.)

Thanks in advance.

I am not overly fond of strong scents but do occasionally use homemade essential oil sprays. I've never noticed any adverse reactions from Kiwi, though I do not spray in the vicinity of his cage.

Have you considered boiling yummy smelling ingredients together? I know some people boil things like cinnamon sticks and orange peels for the scent.

I have! I do that around christmas time more often than the rest of the year! So comforting. I was thinking about that though because isn't that really doing the same thing as diffusing an oil? I'm sure thats waaaaay cheaper!

I put cinnamon sticks, orange peel and cloves and boil in a little crock pot. I love the smell, it's like Christmas all year.. But I know it's safe..[emoji4]

Oooohhh ... this I'm going to do too!
Thank you for the tip. :):):)

I live the cinnamon sweeps, hang them out of reach in the middle of the house, smells awesome for a couple weeks.

I have this same question. I feel like if its safe for me to eat it should be fine to diffuse but I dont want to upset my baby bird <3 I found a vet that uses oils to help heal birds. www.oilyvet.com There is a link there to a website that has oils for birds. I see that they suggest adding citrus oils to bird drinking water. ]

I grow a live gardenia in my sunroom. I haven't tested candle stuff yet because I get so worried. Maybe some lavender and lemons boiled in a microwave will smell nice. //slapped
