Hey guys, I've noticed lately that my baby Amazon's beak has started to peel a little. In pictures of other owners I've seen perfect black beaks with no scales. What's the secret, my baby is currently growing huge new feathers on her neck. You can see that she's growing and developing but I want to know how to keep her beak healthy and so shiny.

She really, really loves vegetables, I feed her pellets and fresh vegetables and sometimes throw in some fruit. She especially loves carrots and peas

A smooth, unpeeling beak is the exception to the rule. A beak is going to peel. That’s just what they do! Those photos probably show birds whose beaks have been polished smooth with a Dremel tool and shined up with coconut oil or Vaseline.

Get used to imperfect beaks. That’s what parrots really do look like in their natural state!
