My partner and I have shared our house with numerous birds over the past 8 years, as well as having a healthy flock of outside birds. Our original pair of cockatiels, a male gray and a female chocolate, now elderly, were mature birds when we rescued them from an abandoned trailer. They are not breeders.
We have acquired more, and raised many, and are now slowing down and enjoying the flock we have. I'm always amazed and pleased at the quality of their minds. They are all individuals with real lives.
Jean and I have relied on vets, and advice from friends when it came to health issues. I also realize that I could have more insight into their health if I studied and discussed bird life with more people who are active in their birds' life.
I joined the forum to ask a couple questions, and am sure that I will be more involved with the community as time goes on.
I have a youtube video of one of our older gray males, who is the most musical bird I ever heard, maybe better than a mockingbird.
