as he was 5 weeks ago when I first got him. The previous owner said she wouldn't touch him in his cage because he wanted to bite her. But now, he will let me remove him from the inside of his cage, scratch his neck and pet him inside of his cage.

Tiki actually came over to me for the first time a week ago and offered me his head and neck area by bending his head down. He climbed from my shoulder to me chest and started snuggling under my chin and neck. He then bent his head down so I started rubbing his neck and giving him scritches all the while, he chattered, cooooed and talked. Saying Tiki's a pretty birdie, whatcha doin Tiki, hello. Then when I stop, he starts preening up and down my fingers. Sometimes, he gets carried away and I have to tell him NO BITE!

The way I broke him of his cage aggression was to drop treats in his treat bowl from the inside of his cage, then drop treats on the bottom of his cage like peanuts. Then I gradually started getting my hand closer to him each time until finally my hand was right next to him. I left me hand there for a few seconds each time. Then I tried to get him to step up on my hand, at which time, he bit me and I would withdraw my hand. But after third time at this, rather than pulling my hand away telling him "NO BITE", I decided to push my fingers into his chest while he was pinching my finger with his beak. He decided after the third time I pushed my finger into his chest that his pinching was doing it for him, he stopped the pinching and started stepping up on my hand without issue. Now, he allows me and actually seems to want me to scritch his neck and head while he's in his cage if i approach him.

Fortunately for me, Tiki isn't a real aggressive bird that really wanted to hurt me. His pinches never broke the skin or drew blood. It was just strong pinches as if to let me know to back off buddy or else. But. I'm as hard headed as he is. I guess that's why we get along so great together.

But yeah Sue, i think Tiki has taken to me. But I'll bet not as much as I have taken to him. My wife gets a laugh in the evenings when I put Tiki to bed because I kind of mope around because it's such a let down for me. It's taken like 4 weeks for Tiki to really start trusting me and me him. Now we are on our 6 week and can't wait to see what the future brings for us.

lol nut don't really mind me around her cage, i don't really have to make her step off it, i generally ask her to come onto my shoulder an if she's in the mood, she'll fly across to me, less now she has settled and is more intent on being on my partners shoulder lol

but for me i am more happy she has settled :) she lurves my man :( but will interact with both me and my son when he is not at home, so guess who's makin hub's work more :) but she does not pine for him when he is out, so i guess that is good

our routine is not to constant, but even so she is settled :) and knows at some point in the day we all gather for a meal :) her fav time, even though she is in her sleep cage, and if its one of the rare days we are all in the house through the day, happy times!

4wks is fast :) and thats a good thing :) and i am sure just as everyday i find out something new about nut, you will with tiki

though i have to say nut is as naughty as they come!! she will not fly an walk across curtain pole, due to the 1st time she got up there, she un-wittingly dusted that ceiling corner for me :) but she has recently started to climb up the curtains and try to un-hook them!!!!
if she wasn't so funny doin it i'd stop her!!
