Throwing dishes...uhg

The pic below is an example of the kind of play stand I have for Cricket...a bit different but it's the dish arrangement that I'm having issues with and they are the exact same as these.

Note the way the dishes set into a metal ring. Well Cricket has decided that dumping the water one is SO MUCH FUN! She won't do the food one...because lets face it...she's a little piggy and will NEVER waste food! She has similar ones on the play area on the top of her cage but has not flipped those yet...only the water one in the dining room on her play stand. She did do the food one once but only because it was empty and she was miffed that I hadn't filled it IMMEDIATELY upon placing her on the stand. No she's not spoiled....much.

Anyway...any tips for how to keep the dishes in place? It makes quite a mess when she does this. I have dishes that are locked down inside her cage but are there options for these types of play stand situations?

TIA!

I would stop putting water in there for a while and instead put foods with a high water content such as watermelon or other melons, citrus, cukes, cabbage, broccoli, peppers, zucchini and that sort of thing. She won't die of thirst and she will ingest some foods that are good for her.:p

I agree with Labell. I never put water on Kiwi's play stand, and generally do not put food either (perhaps some foraging or treats, but that's it). I use the dishes for foot toys.

So long as Cricket isn't spending ALL DAY LONG up there with no way to get back to his cage, it'll be fine. Birds don't drink that much, they get most of their moisture needs from their food anyways. Just be sure Cricket has clean/fresh food and water in his cage and don't worry about it on the play stand unless (again) he'll be spending an extended period of time up there with no access to his cage:)

Mine is like that. I did away with the ones sent with it. BB never used the ladder so I used one of the one pc feed cups and attached to the top of the ladder.
I'm at work so this is the best picture I can find on line.

He had chewed off the top step of each ladder so it attached right to the top .

A good solution is to replace metal dishes with heavier ceramic if you can find a good fit. I've done this with playpens to prevent all sorts of messy carnage!

Yep these are what i use...they twist into place, and cannot be thrown. At least i have yet to see one come undone.
