Hello! I have two green cheek conures and two Quaker parrot rescues. I have a Quaker and a green cheek that have been a pair for four years. A friend of mine gave me her birds a Quaker and a green cheek who are not a pair over a year ago. Their ages are over two and the current Quaker is fine by herself. The newer green cheek in February and March has been going through the mating hormonal stage which is the first time I have seen her go through it. The green cheek has plenty of toys, eats vegetables, pellets....but has decided that the Quaker from the pair is the one she wants to be with...however, when the Quaker flies over to the green cheeks cage they fight and I don’t want them hurt. I have changed where they are in the living room and I keep them flighted. They find each other. I like to have them out of their cages during the day and then everyone gets covered at night. I can’t seem to stop the behavior. The minute I let the green cheek out she flies to the Quaker and green cheeks cage All three do not get along. I tell the gcc no and put her back in the cage. When the Quaker does the same... I put him back in the cage....I do not want to keep her in the cage! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

No experience with flock behavior beyond the wonders of pecking order and its ongoing proof.

I'll concede to the flock experts!

Wow, i have the same problem except mine are all Amazons. The problem child is Radar about 8. and dna says hes male. He keeps following a pair around no matter where they go . Either he sits on top of their cage all day or he flies to them. The pair are a 17 yr male DYH and his pal , a 6 yr female OWA. He doesnt really act nice to them. There is squawking and they all fly around. He is a sweet little boy and used to follow my other female around. he doesnt seem know how to make friends. He just follows them and starts a fight. A peck or a squawk, I have to keep him in his cage or keep the other pair in the cage to stop it. The previous owner had radar dna tested to make sure he was a male.
