also terry I will be posting a few threads in the next few days like cheddar's 1st b-day!!!! and also my 6th month with the cutie!!!

I'm glad to see you've taken a renewed interest in cheddar. Budgies are very intelligent and sensitive, and very emotional. Have you thought of leaving his cage door open a few hours every day, just so he grows accustomed to it open. Generally budgies always go back to their cages. They like to hang out on top, and be free to interact. If you take it slow you could get him to be a tame bird outside the cage. He's been locked up a long time and is wanting company.

lol one time when i took cheddar out before he flew everywhere he perched on top of my closet door also I have a question I will say now "should I get a second budgie before a GCC (a male or female?) and when should i put them in the same cage together" its that i will get a conure one day and I wont have a lot of time for cheddar so i am thinking of ideas to get time like not being on the computer a lot I go on a lot eveyr once in a while :D

he is adorable! i like his name, why did you name him Cheddar?

That's ok. He knows where things are in the room. You'll be surprised how quick he'll learn, but you have to give him the chance. Don't let your fears get in the way. If he flies up somewhere, just leave him be and act calm. (No cats). It takes alot of patience. Don't chase him around. He will figure out a way back to his cage. And if not, make the room dim and help him. You can do it, you just need patience. How are you going to deal with a parrot if you can't deal with a budgie? Parrots are much harder, very loud, strong, and the bite will rip your skin open.

LOL i have 2 cats but when i took him out i closed the door and im very cared since he always got hurt and Dallytuska many reasons one was the color of his head and one other is that i like cheddar (THE CHEESE :D) also i have tried 3 times in the last few months in different ways (one was millet!!!) to get him out slowly and he always tried to fly back but got hurt or lost a tail feather

Isn't this a school night? What are you doing up so late? Go to bed :D

I think another Budgie is a great idea!! :greenyellow::whiteblue:
I LOVE my two. I'd say definitely another male. The females (generally speaking) are not as friendly or as good of pets as the males are. The males tend to get along well, and believe it or not, maybe better than certain males with females.

Cheddar might be territorial with his cage, and I would keep them separate anyway since they will be easier to tame and bond with you if they aren't kept together.

I couldn't find your photo album in the photo gallery. Where can I find pics of Cheddar?

I would consider a conure when you have tamed down your little cheddar :)
Conures need regular training because they can be nippy, like most birds.

Maybe go back to the basics, put a pot in his cage and every so often drop a treat in. After a few hours of that offer him the treat through the bars, then through his door, then make him come next to the door for it, then try and focus him on the treat and get him to step up. Take it all slowly and if you learn with cheddar how to tame and train, a conure in the future will be great!

also I have an important question: cheddar's birthday is in 4 days and I want to get him a friend because I have time for him but i dont want him getting bored while im at school. and I really want the little guy to have a little friend. Should I put them in the same cage after a week or so and cheddar (LOL) wouldnt care becuz after a week he would notice its one of his kind! and joshuwaaa I will wait for a conure (well i am deciding a bit) until my birthday (aug 8)
