The Rickeybird, 40-year-old Patagonian Conure
Time to edit the profile data again!

This Cinco de Mayo will be the Rickeybird's 35th Hatchday!

I bought him on absolute impulse in New Mexico in 1984; he was three months old. Since then, we have been through school and an internship, seven jobs and one retirement, two apartments and three houses, three boyfriends and one husband (not counting the Rival), and a slew of assorted life challenges and joys. This community is one of the latter.

Below is a newly-recovered photo of a gag-cake (NOT literally... actually, it was delicious) presented to me at my mother's house not long after the big move North to Cleveland. That was 1999 when the Rb was 15.

Thanks to all of you for making this site such a great part of my life.

On a related note, I congratulate you too Gail. RB didn't make it 35 by himself. He is CLEARLY well loved and well cared for. For that we should all be grateful as well. Thank you for sharing. Stories like this inspire me, truly.

I can only hope I can get my Skittles to live to his 30s. I hope to build as many memories with him (and a few nightmares with the 'neon nightmare') as you have with the RB!

Congrats to you both.
 
Happy bird-day dear Ricky Bird! It's cause for celebration, as you are clearly loved, so be nice and consume lots of chillies, and not so many assorted fingers and body parts today! (and maybe other days too lol)

You all knock me out. I confess to a bit of selfish excitement at the idea of posting this and reaping lots of attention for his 35th, but y'all have outdone yourselves... poetry, chiles (Good Gawd, Scott!), B-52s (Good God, Mr. Fl!!), wishes for blood and guts and henz and even some sweet praise for me and my long-sufferingness in keeping the little goon alive all these ages!!!!!!!!!!!! I fully admit to being completely choked up.
