The Pro's and Con's of a Jenday Conure?

if Wheezy has been at the petco for 8 months, and you truly do all your research regarding noise, and vet, feeding, housing, and toy costs, and time commitments, and EVERYONE in the house is on the same page (well, being under 18 you can't purchase an animal from petco anyway, BUT...) you should approach the store manager about the bird's length of stay, and how much he may or may not be discounted. He should be, if he's been there as long as you say. All the conures at my local store are discounted at 50% for this reason, and if the store does it correctly, it goes through as an adoption, rather than a purchase from the store, so the money goes to the Petco Foundation to help the animal charities they partner with.

Several petco's in my area also will discount their birds for 50% if they havn't sold for a long time. I once worked at Petsmart, good pet store employees want the birds to go to a good homes and know they can't live their whole life in a display cage, even a large one. I refused to sell many pets if the possible pet parent did not have the animals needs as a priority.

Well, some conures can honk, quack and make chirps like a cricket, too!!! But yes, conures do pierce the eardrum quite a bit! LOL

I must be lucky since my conure usually just makes chirps, or makes duck like noises for the most part. Of course she can let out a shriek but being a green cheek conure I do not find it that bad. The more I hear the less worried I am about the noise of a min macaw.

My neighbor had 2 sun conures and they never would shut up. I am a macaw owner and I can take them way more than a conure. If noise is a factor please reconsider its not how loud they are but how often and suns are noisy most of the day. And loud. Thats why so many get re-homed because they are beautiful and people don't do their research and buy one learning how noisy they can be.

I had a sun and he wasn't that bad he would have his moments though! Twice a day I could count on him just screaming because he wanted to. My nanday on the other hand holy cow he's loud all day every day!
