Big Bird _ Blue & Gold Macaw
:( Do not make any drastic changes to your looks and expect your Macaw to just accept it.

My hair has been long for the past 5 years. About midway down my back and full of curls. Well anyone with curly long hair knows ...... Ya gotta cut it sooner or later just to tame it.

So went to shop and had it taken off mid way on my neck. Yes I donated it. So the girl doing it wanted to see what i would look like straight. No big deal. I hate it straight but she is a good person so told her have fun. OMG it was straight lol.

Came home walked in the door said hi. Dog's were fine. BB freaked. I mean freaked. Yelling moving away from me in the cage. Did not matter my voice was the same. He had a intruder trying to touch him

I hit the shower quick . Let it curl back up . Came out and all is fine . G's I would not think something like that would freak him out.

:eek::eek::eek:
Well, I'm glad you found a "fix" for the problem:)

The good news is your hair will grow back to an acceptably "normal" length!!

That's a "depends on the bird" kinda thing...

Some freak. Some don't.

For awhile there, my daughter subscribed to the hairstyle/hair color of the month club... so, it didn't phase mine. Straight, curly, colors that are not normally found in nature...

Didn't matter.

I'm glad you were able to get your hair back to an 'acceptable' style for BB. Some birds definitely react like that. I have worn (brightly colored) wigs, hats, bright clothes ext... around Kiwi and it doesn't phase him at all. But the second I take my glasses off, he flips out and goes into "kill" mode. It's funny what they react too.

I guess if you ever want to straighten your hair again, it'll have to be after birdie bedtime or well out of a certain someones:blue1: line of sight:54:

Well, now you know he doesn't think straight hair is the best look for you! :)

Glad the change was something you could quickly fix.

Not that I've had a big change in front of Pazu yet, he loves strangers so I think I might be safe if I ever brave it and have my hair cut really short.

BB is scared of just about anything new. Toys have to stay out side of the cage for a day or they will eat him. New food has to be eaten by me first so he will not die when he eats it.

New wood is the only thing that can be put in the cage without it eating him.

BF came home today with a 3 foot long 2 inch wide strip of stainless steel.... bent into a zig zag shape with holes in it. Filled it with nuts and bolts . All stainless steel. He is a electrician . Any scrap left over they can have . He said all the guys at work got together to build a toy that BB could not destroy. I think they did it. That is hanging in his cage . Will try to upload a pic later.

Oh and no its not sharp LOL

My severe is afraid of everything new..toys,ladders,Brazil nuts..and me wearing my glasses. And I also have to tast food before she eats it. At times I'm just like come on!and other times I'm like that's cute! I wonder what she'd do if I straightened my hair..its long and curly lol I might just test it out lol.

Even dogs can sometimes be freaked by things like this! When I was a kid, my Dad came home one night after an event with a glued-on beard and moustache, and full stage make-up. For fun, he knocked on the door and didn't say anything when we opened it, and our Saint Bernard, who was normally relaxed and easy-going about everything, barked and barked at him - until he spoke, revealing himself, and she nearly fell apart in "it's you, so sorry so sorry!" apologetic motions!

My U2 raises her feathers and lowers her wings every time she sees me with wet hair or without my glasses. Even after she hears my voice, she still acts like I'm a complete stranger.

My Pi was furious with me when I had the nerve to dye my hair a different colour...so now when I dye it I have to stay in the original colour range...the things we do for these guys!
