The crazy things you see on craigslist!

Remember reading Craiglist when I was first looking at birds to get and there was someone selling a xbox 360 and as a bonus he said he would throw in a free parakeet, I was surprised that Craiglist would even let that go up.

No lie by the way.
WOW. Thats just wrong

alaska is huge (thankgod) otherwise all the Free birds online would go to snake feeders. Ive heard people going online for just that reason.

Though its not uncommon for people to give away their puppys and kittens for stupid reasons either. In my line of work we "adopt" out puppy and kittens to people and we Always inform them on getting a dog or cat for a child, just last week we had a 10 week old kitten come back because it "bit and pounced" on their 3 year old too much. I wanted to take the women by the ears and give her a good shake.

Though I think my employers would frown on that, I did jerk a box away from a teen saying he wouldent fill out profile paperwork on his turtles, and that he would rather use them for target practice then pay 20 dollars to surrender his reptiles to us. (they were in horrible conditions before they got to us, apparent from their mossy skin and pealing shells)

There's one in my area too saying she would tame the bird and flip it....

I know all these stories too well as most of my pets were unwanted animals at one point....I try to keep up with their previous owners, but Willie's previous owner taught me to only keep contact for a short period...The husband got nasty with me for updating them on his progress...I guess he couldn't wait until he was gone....The wife was a different story as she was excited to listen to Willie's stories....

Alaska hasent gotten to that point yet, there are a lot of bird keepers, but mostly poultry. Though sadily, being a shelter, noone brings their big birds to us unless they are already dead and they need to get rid of the body.

And thats kinda a pitty because we have connections, people who have been rescuing animals for years who work intandem with the shelter. The few birds we do get are small birds and usually I end up clipping toenails and feathers, and working on stepping up, (just really trying to interact with the poor bird) and trying to show people how friendly they are.
