Well the caique came last night to use and took up the recently rehomed canaries cage( huge flight cage). His name is pickles and so far so good. I have already gained some enormous trust with him. I can pick him up by his beak lay him on his back. He gives me hand shakes and has whistle competitions with me. I know it is the honeymoon stage but I don't see him reverting to aggression he is settling in so great! He really loves the one boing I have hanging, plays all over that and one of my PVC stands:p. I'll hopefully have some pictures up by tomorrow or the weekend:) he's a white bellied caique by the way.

Congrats! I love the name...looking forward to seeing pics

Thanks, his story is difficult I've known him for some time(never really handled hm but a person I knew had him). Then he was rehomed to another lady, the lady apparently thought her young teenage daughter should be responsible of the bird she brought in not her. So pickles got neglected and had no time out and so on. they also changed his name, but I could stand for that as he knew pickles not what he had been changed to.... So me being a jerk changed it back and told the lady that it was never her daughters responsibility to take care of an animal she took in that it truly was her fault for not interacting and so on.

I agree Pickles is a perfect name !! :) Cant wait to see what you think of him .Im sure hes so Happy to be out and have other p arrot friends. [Hes lucky you could get him out of there.] :)

I know it fits him so well! I think a lot of him already he is very sweet. Plus at the current time he is liking the whole family so I am taking him out to some outreachs we have planned to keep him social like he currently is... Maybe he will become apart of the show crew coming out to shows, joining boo, jackpot, max and Molly, koko, tucker and rocky:)(babe and Romeo if they feel up to it;))

I got pictures of him now should have them up directly if not within this night:)

I am glad you got him he needed to have his name. My Moms Severe was called Teo by the person we got her from, she let us know her name was Pepper!

Awesome! If I ever get a size-appropriate companion for my senegal I'm hoping it'll be a Caique, I love their spunk!

Ha, my boy grey is called Teo! Both Teo and Mateo mean 'gift' in Italian and Spanish. Since that's what he was, it seemed appropriate :)

You lucky son of a guns... Lol.. I've been wanting a caique since I saw one at Petco.. I'm not paying 1300 from one though... Even though shasta is a sweety and worth her weight in gold..

You should check out a breeder, the price will be considerably less. Pet shops always jack up the price unless it's a private business were they raise their own babies.

If you were looking for a good Caique breeder Daisy Jane comes from Shady Pines.com Gloria is an amazing! She has babies hatching right now. WBC's are 850.00 & BHC are 800.00.

@ Jt He's cute he looks like he having lots of fun with you! My Mom's WBC's beak grows really fast compared to Daisy Janes' (BHC), i wonder if pickles will have a fast growing beak too, or if it just depends on the bird? I thought maybe it wasn't normal but i looked on Caiquecrazy.com and it is.

Parrotdise, glad you mentioned Shady pines always wondered about them . Their sight looks great. My caiques beaks always grow.:)

Pretty bird thanks for sharing and congrats on the new fid
