I'M PREGNANT!!!!

It's been seven months of trying, but it's finally happened! I'm almost six weeks and feeling great, but I'm starting to wonder about parrots and my health. Some people say that there is something in parrot droppings that can lead to problems and possibly miscarriage. Is there any truth to this?

I only want what's best for the baby! <3

Just like cats I would have someone else clean the cages. After handling the birds wash your hand. Just practice cleanliness and all should be fine. MAny women have parrots and babies! Just remember when the baby gets here your fids need you also!

Woohoo! You're right! Best news in the world! We've had two babies born into our extended family in the past six months and, honestly, nothing makes people happier than little babies. So happy for you!

Parrots/birds droppings become dry and powdery if allowed to sit for an extended amount of time. The powder in turn gets into the air and you breath it in. That is what you have to worry about. Not just because you are pregnant, it is dangerous for anyone!

As long as the paper is changed daily, there is no problem. Depending on the bird/droppings, I change it daily or every other day.
