B&G macaw
I found this at the pet store tonight and couldn't resist. It's huge and looks like so much fun for a foraging toy. Blue loves it!

I make regular trips there. They have a plucked B&G that's been there for 8 months now. He's 2 and no one wants him because he's not "perfect". So I go in every few days and play with him. The shop owner says I'm the only person that comes in that he'll step up for and play with. He jumps on me every time he sees me and we spend some time cuddling, petting and playing with stuff. He's got me trained where I take him some treats every time I go in and I've made him some toys for his cage that he's in. He's adorable. Alert, happy and doesn't really know he's got no feathers. Tonight I discovered some little feathers coming in on his chest and the shop owner says he's been leaving them alone since I've been coming in.

Anyway, while I was there, I found the most awesome toy and brought it home for Blue. She hasn't left it alone since. They're hollow coconut balls with holes drilled in that you can stuff with food.

You can also cut the coconut in half, drill holes in each half, fill with treats and then string them back together. The birds twist themselves into a pretzel trying to get their heads into the coconut 'bell' and great fun is had by all!

Is it OK to let the birds eat the coconut meat? So far, I've dug it all out and given it to my kids, but if the birds can have it, they get first pick.

That is one GREAT toy! A nearby bird store is constantly sold out on these, that's how popular they are. :D

Uh-ooh Gina...that B&G in the store may be wanting to come home to live with YOU. ;)

Wendy! You hush!
Another B&G? In MY house? It would be like a zoo here!

My biggest apprehension is the fact that I haven't have Blue that long (although we've bonded pretty well and come a LONG way), and I have the little green foster monster that I need to work with. I don't want to get in over my head but I do feel bad that every time I leave he starts contact calling me.

Besides, I don't know if I'd have enough time to write the stories.

AAAWWWW....he's calling you!!! How sweet is that? :D Think of it this way: Double the pleasure...double the fun. :54:

I swear, he sounds like he has your name ALL over him.

But I don't *need* another macaw! I just barely got Blue and then the green demon came along....

I spent the day building toys. I'm going to take him a few tomorrow. He doesn't really have much in his cage at the shop.

Awww that bird must be a doll! To bad you haven't had Blue for longer and the foster monster could be adopted!

That toy is sooooo cool but I bet it must be HUGE!:24_shocke Well bigger then any toy Iv ever bought for Lilo!
