Before I get into my post,I have to give some background.I have quite a few rescued and special needs birds here, some of whom are pigeons and doves. Most of my pigeons are 'hard to place' birds no one wanted, because they are either disabled, missing a wing or deformed in the legs, blind or otherwise undesireable to most fanciers or pet homes. Many of my birds are unreleasable 'feral' pigeons, given to me by rehabbers.I have them in my 'bird room' wich also is my dining room where I eat my meals with my feathered friends. All my birds are in this room.Parrots, doves and pigeons.
So,anyways ......
My 2 male rescued feral pigeons Peeper and Chuck were being rather grumpy today. Well Chuck usually has a bit of an attitude-though hes not an agressive bird, but it was worse today,as he's had a rough week.I had just been accosted by Peeper (his girl Sophia, just layed an egg,so I got the macho male defending his girls egg routine-wingslaps and nips) and went up to feed and water Chuck,in his cage.Chuck is a recent widower, after losing his mate, last week,so Chuck is not a happy bird-right now.Chuck bit me HARD. I said ''dang it Chuck, that hurt....dont you love me anymore?!'' Sweety,my jenday came over to my side of the cage and said ""I LOVE YOU!!'' and made his feeding gesture, with kissy faces.I just melted, and told him ''I love you too,Sweety'' and gave him a kiss.
It's kinda funny, how lovely those 3 words just sounded, coming from my Jenday.Sweety just totally made my day and brightened my mood,at that moment in time.I love you too Sweety bird. You are my sunshine.
