At last, those times are upon us... but I didn't expect to find Kermit's antics so amusing.
It seems like every day, I won't know what bird I'll get. Sometimes she's a massive cuddle monster, other days it's hands off and she's on "shoulder ornament" mode. She's less tolerant of being held and takes insult far more quickly on her grumpy days. Still, she hasn't drawn blood yet (though left behind a few painful dents), so I certainly feel like it's within my means to handle.
Now the funny part. Kermit is in love with my father. Absolutely smitten. She will ALWAYS let him pick him up and hold her. She'll stay perfectly still and content. Her eyes go straight to him whenever he walks in the room. I've rarely seen her bite him; she's certainly never left dents like she does on us. Meanwhile the rest of the family is up to strict standards. And it's not for lack of interaction; my mother and I spend a lot more time with her than my dad.
I don't know how to explain to her who pays the vet bills and who she'll be living with ultimately when I move out but... ahem, young love I guess.
