Today the weather was perfect for an adventure in the garden. For Basil this meant an opportunity to engage in her second favourite pastime, tree climbing. Without a moments hesitation she began her ascent into the lush canopy above, her little legs carrying her as far away from her home as she's even been in her entire life. With each step forward her longing to explore the great unknown was closer to being satisfied. So engrossed in her task she didn't even spare a glance in the direction of her family below, until of course it was time for her lunch 😊

She's so cute! Glad she was able to enjoy the great outdoors today.

My red lored is the exact same way. Get her outside, put her in a tree, and she is content to hang out at or near the top of it all day...

I love seeing this stuff!

Your red Lored sounds just like Basil. She would spend all day sitting in that tree until she's ready to eat then she let's you know she wants to be fed. She has us all very well trained lol

Aww thank you but it's really Basil that makes the pictures look pretty.

I'd be so terrified of my bird flying off!! We've lost two lovebirds that slipped just outside, in the past (the last one just a few weeks ago). They so enjoyed being out, they just kept flying further away, then they'd land and call to us. Then, off they'd go again, until they were lost to sight. Hunted for weeks, never saw either of them again. Heartbreaking.

Wow Basil certainly has some beautiful foliage to play in! No wonder she made a bee-line up the tree. My Amy loves to climb and hang in trees too. Favorite place to spread her arms for a misting shower :p

Oh dear. I m so sorry to hear about your lovebirds. It's heartbreaking when their little adventures turn into something of a more permanent nature. Basil is terrified of birds and most things that are unfamiliar to her and we always keep a close eye on her. She is harness trained and tolerates it well but mom feels sorry for her in it for some reason so she is clipped and only outside where we can watch her and once it's not windy. Indoors it's fine because she can't really get lost with all the windows and doors being closed. How are your other fids doing? I hope they are all well. Have a goodnight. Thank you for your reply. Take care :)

Dear Jim thank you for your response. Aww Amy sounds adorable. Those zons are quite fond of their baths. Basil loves being misted in that tree as well and sings and shows off her feathers while trying to drink some of the water in the process. I hope you and your fids are well. Have a goodnight :)

Love love love it! Basil is just glowing in the sunshine, and totally loving the nature. So happy to see birds get outside exploring nature:D Not all species are, but amazons are typically good candidates to train for outdoor 'freedom'. Kiwi is too much of a he-diva to sit in a tree (WHAT IS THIS FILTHY THING you've set me on?!), but he loves being outdoors and exploring.

Oh wow, I can't believe I almost missed this. What GREAT photos of Basil!!! :D You can keep the pictures coming, along with your magnificent surroundings. Basil must think he's living in paradise!!
