That Nacho birdie...

Couple videos of just messing with the little blue baby. He sure is tolerant of being handled, even the vet remarked about him not struggling at his exam. I can't tell yet if he really enjoys this kind of playing or if he just tolerates it, but he seems to like the attention if nothing else.

Nothing special here. No tricks or talking yet, just some simple cute play time.

Completely different! Remember he's only been here going on 3 weeks and his little birdsonality is still developing. But so far he's much calmer and quieter and doesn't really seem to get excited about anything. To be honest, I feel like he would be a lot more outgoing if he hadn't been clipped. Only being able to fly pretty much straight down has got to be mentally hard on a bird. Dusty on the other hand, was very excited to see me and would fly to me when he had the chance or shout every time I left the room. And he really loved his head and neck scratches but wouldn't allow touching his beak, wings or tail like Nacho does. They both hate the shower and trying new foods, but Nacho will step into his water dish for a quick bath from time to time.

And of course I'm learning to relate differently too. For one major thing, I can't trust Nacho to be on me without biting. It doesn't seem like an attack or defense bite, it's more like "I like your chewy texture, let me grab a chunk". And if I let him, he'll do it. After I got about 5 pairs of little holes in my hands and arms I pretty much stopped trusting him and I push his beak away when he looks like he's about to go for more than just the hairs on my arm. Dusty would bite too, but his was more like "this is the secret handshake". Much more playful and gentle.

do you have any advice for me I got a 4 month old Quaker a week ago he lets me stand or sit by his cage but he wont let me give him treats and when I let him out his cage he wont come anywhere near me

I'm quite a bird newbie myself and far from an expert. I got Nacho at a bird shop that let me play with the birds a bit so I knew he was well tamed before I brought him home. They need some time to adjust to their new homes from what I've seen, and it's best not to push their comfort zone. There's a lot of good info here on the forum if you want to do a little research though, and I'm sure plenty of folks more knowledgeable than me will be happy to give advice if you want to start a thread asking for help
