Thank you for not giving me away!

I soooo hope this is his "daddy" I'm almost jumping up and down with excitement for him!

I know you will know the minute the guy walks in if it's right or not, the bird will tell you in his own birdie way.

I have goosebumps reading this thread! Wish I could see the look on everyones faces when they see each other (assuming he is the parront)...I would probably cry with all the happiness!

Well the good that has come out of this...

We reunited a lost quaker and it's owner.
We reuinted another lost CAG.
Tusk made it home.
And now this guy is probably going home...

Soooo, that's four happy reunions stemming from Tusk getting out, and my trying to find him/this bird's owner.

There's got to be some good Karma from that...

I just want to commend you for working so hard to reunite this bird with his owner. It was selfless of you... and even more so now that you've started to become attached. I know you were trying not to, but it's obvious to all of us, Mark. From the description of how charming he is, though, I can hardly blame you.

It sounds quite likely that this guy is indeed the one. (After all, what are the chances of two people training a bird with the same exact behaviors after stepping onto a perch? Possible? Yes. Probable? No.) I do hope that is the case, but if it proves otherwise I believe he'd have been hard-pressed to find a better home.

It all goes back to I know how I felt when it was my bird... Can you imagine if the guy who found Tusk turned around and gave him to a filpper?!

And the fact that he HAS such a good personality only makes it that much more important to reunite him with HIS person.

If he's that way with me after a week, imagine how he is with someone he's been bonded to for the past ten years or so! (I want to see that!) Y'know?! That's priceless stuff right there!

It's not like he's a neglected plucker, kept in a cage that hadn't been cleaned since 1982... (I've seen enough of those!)

This is an out and about trained people oriented bird. (What gave it away? The car noises?) Who ever had him did it right! And deserves their bird back!!!

Did he tell you how long he is missing his bird?

Whatever the odds might be, the odds of THAT and the "car behaviour" together being the same in a different bird must be infinitesmal.

I'm convinced, before they've even had their meeting. I'm so excited for them both, and it's birdman's doing. Yay!

Sweet reunion this moring!!!

The bird's name is Tino. And, no the guy did not show up with a cardboard box, he showed up with a travel cage, photos, and a hatch certificate.

Oh, and the bird stepped right up for him and said "HI BUDDY!"

So, yeah, I'm kinda guessing it's his bird... !!!

The bird's name is TINO. (Oh, and he has an outdoor flight, and goes outside every day. And he goes olut for car rides - we knew that from the noises he makes anyway.)

SO THIS IS MY GOOD KARMIC PAYBACK... :D don't you just love happy endings?!

What an amazing story....got me boo hooing on this end. I can't imagine life without my Oliver and to think you got Tino back to his dad is pretty darn awesome. You are my hero!!!

AND I GOT TUSK BACK!!!

So now life can finally return to "normal" - or what passes for normal in this house...

Sally immediately flew to her cage and "reclaimed" it. Chased the other bird away. "THAT'S MINE!" Not that she ever even goes in the thing.,. but it's the principle of it I guess. "You found your owner - now go home! THAT'S MINE!"

They got into it this morning cuz Saturday morning coffee time is Sally's one on one time with me. This bird flew to me and disrupted it... so she wasn't happy with him anymore. And I've got triangular pinch marks on my neck and my forearm to prove it!!!

Yeah, did I mention that amazons are jealous birds?

Needless to say, I feel really good at the moment! We reunited four birds and owners during this little mishap...

WOOOHOOO! I'm so glad "Tino" was reunited with his owner:D He let you know that was who he belonged with too when the right person walked through the door didn't he;) Did the owner say how long he'd been missing?

Yes! You've done a wonderful thing, Mark! The owner must've been over the moon! How long had Tino been lost? What was the owner's reaction? And now that they've been reunited and there's no more need for secrecy, what were the behaviors that you felt served as "tells"?

Lol @ Sally ' s reclamation of the cage!

BEAMING! JUST ABSOLUTELY BEAMING!

HE SAID IT WAS LIKE A MIRACLE... GETTING HIS LITTLE BUDDY BACK.

AND THE ENTIRE TIME, TINO WAS SITTING ON HIS FINGER DOING HIS LITTLE DANCE/REGURGE NUMBER. So, yeah, far cry from his reaction to anyone else who showed up here trying to claim him. THEY KNOW!

He also commented about how his bird probably ate better at my place than he did at home...

The bird made a distinctive cell phone noise when he steps up. Instead of a clicker, the guy used a noise that the bird liked on his cell phone to train him...

And now when the bird does a behavior, he does that noise.

It's UNMISTAKABLE! And I was looking for the person who told me that...

Photos were essential because he made the sound of a shutter on a cell phone cam that oh, by the way, matched the sound of this guy's cell phone cam, that had pics of this bird on it. Didn't really take pictures of your bird? Then this is not your bird...

He also does the car door noise, and the seatbelt alarm when you get in the car. So, yeah, out and about bird. Tell me about that...

He had been lost for 10 days. I had him for 6 days after that. So yeah, it all fits.

He does a distinctive poofy bird dance that is different from Tusk's poofy bird dance.

But "Hi Buddy?" and the poofy bird dance/regurge number?!

Yeah. Uuummmm... the bird just told me everything I needed to know.

He flew to me, and did his happy bird dance regurg number, but he never said "Hi buddy!" to me.

And again, it wasn't just the owner who lit up when he saw the bird. The bird lit up when he saw the owner... THEY KNOW WHERE THEY BELONG!

Just like my reunion with Tusk. There was no doubt that this was my bird...

SHE WAS NOT HAPPY ABOUT THE BREACH OF FLOCK ETTIQUITE THIS MORNING! That was HER one on one time. You need to wait your turn...

There is a certain order to the way we do things around here, and the bird's themselves enforce it. Sally is one of my enforcers. (Maggie is the other.) Don't listen when Sally tells you the rules... you get Maggie!

Birds in this house behave, but I'm not the only one doing the training. That's one of the reasons I could turn bad behaviors around so quickly with some of my fosters. They got put on the big playstand with the other 11 birds, and they were expected to learn and follow the rules, by both me and the other birds... and it works! Step out of line and the other birds will immediately mass and attack you, and kick you off the playstand. That's how birds maintain flock ettiquite in the wild as well...

So, yeah, we had a little drama this morning.

She lives out on her playstand anyway, so I've been keeping that bird in her cage. After this morning she was no longer in the mood to share! In fact, she confronted Tino and essentially told him "Time to go!"

I made her some corn on the cob. She'll get over it rather quickly... (and will go right back to not bothering with her cage.)

Oh, and the way he got out, he was taking the bird in from his outdoor flight to his indoor macaw cage... on a shoulder, like he's done for as long as he's had the bird. Something spooked him, and away he went.

Told you this one was loved and pampered! It totally shows in his behavior...

WOW! my eyes welled up, I'm so happy for Tino and his owner :D!!!! This is great!!!

Tusk and the others who were all reunited near the same time is AWESOME too!! How about that?!! I'm just glad you got your special guy back.

Truly LUCKY (finding those other birds and owners too). With ALL the the birds out there at any given moment, well, we don't say it, but we know what happens more times than not.

Yay, you can now get back to your "crazy" version of normal :)

THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS THAT WHEN YOUR BIRD GETS OUT, YOU GO AND LOOK FOR HIM. YOU BEAT THE BUSHES;. YOU PUT OUT FLYERS. YOU PUT ADS UP. AND YOU DON'T GIVE UP...

This is the SIXTH time I've lost a bird in 15+ years. The only time I haven't gotten a bird back was when an owl got to him before I could...

Accidents happen! You gotta stay calm, and do the work, and fix it.

But yeah, my heart stops every time!!!

I feel good. Now I want to just relax and forget any of this ever happened!

It feels a little surreal.

The hope of finding a lost bird. Searching the lost and found. Posting. Walking the woods. Putting out flyers.

Calling around. It's a quaker. No I lost a CAG. Thanks anyway.

Oh, good you found a gray! No. Not mine.

A CAG at the feeding station? I'll be right there. Not my bird.

YOU FOUND TUSK! IT IS TUSK!

No, I didn't find a quaker, but I know someone who did...

No this isn't your bird, but I looked at a bird that someone found who said all those things on Friday. I think I know where your bird is.

THAT IS NOT YOUR FRIGGIN' BIRD NOW GET OUT OF HERE!

Don't worry little bird, we're gonna find your owner...

"HI BUDDY!"

Pretty much sums up the past two weeks of my life....

SIX DEGREES OF PARROT SEPARATION. It's all connected in a way... totally random, and yet not so random.

SURREAL.
