RIP Constantine: Jenday Conure
Was just informed that the lady I was getting the macaws from gave them away yesterday. I'm devestated to say the least. I was so excited to take care of such amazing creatures and prepared as much as I could and she just goes and gives them to someone who knows nothing about them! I feel sick. I'm pi$$ed. Those birds have been in four homes in the past 2 years. I can't even put into words what I feel right now.

I'm so sorry. It is terrible to feel as if birds have not gone to the best possible home. At this point all you can do is hope that the birds are in a good environment. Maybe the lady can pass on your number "just in case" the new owners change their mind.

I am so sorry! I know how much you were looking forward to it.

It wasn't a nice thing for her to do!! Did she offer you any explantion as to why she gave them to someone else?

I'm so sorry to hear this! I have been through this myself THREE times in the past two months. Preparations made, cages purchased, time taken off work, not to mention the emotional excitement of already considering the birds "mine". Then, in each case to have it fall through literally within an hour of pick up each time was devastating.

I'm so sorry it happened to you.

Here is a Macaw in Nebraska (not Nashville, which is where this posting is found) that needs a home:

Greenwing Macaw

The Nebraska Parrot Rescue is also overwhelmed. Try them as well.

Best,
Sara

Oh, Sara, he looks like a nice boy!
Heli--- you should check him out!

That GW looks to be a very nice bird who's in need of a great home. I sure hope he finds one soon.

Helitorian: I'm so sorry your hopes were dashed :( Sometimes we have no control over such things. But I understand that can't make it any less painful for you. I absolutely hope the best for those Macaws you intended to adopt. I as well hope the best fore you. Please be mindful that there are lots of Macaws out there who need great homes. Maybe you can consider checking into them and one (or more) can come live with you soon.

Best wishes

That was unfortunate but I don`t think you`ll have any trouble finding another to rehome. There are so many out there. I wish I could have more. I am now trying to talking my wife into another.

Thank you guys for the support. It really means a lot to me. Unfortunetly, I can't buy a macaw seeing as how I'm saving for a home. I was only taking the pair because they needed a home right away and were free. But you can bet once I get my home that I'll be making an appointment with the nebraska parrot rescue. We've met before and I fell in love with a B&G that she had but couldn't properly provide for him at the time.

Sonja, I seriously understand! This is the second time this has happened to me as well. The first was with a Sun Conure that bonded to me at the PetsMart I use to work for. When I went back to get her, they sold her the day before I could come. Next time I get a chance at a bird in need of a good home, I won't wait. I won't go through this heartbreak again.

i'm so sorry to hear this. either way i do hope the birds will be fine with the new owner. it sounds cliche but maybe it wasn't meant to be and another macaw is waiting to arrive in your loving home :)
All the best of luck!

I'm so sorry this happened. I know how you feel I was supposed to be getting a GW this summer ,but than was heartbroken when the owner decided to change his mind. I could have taken him to court(long story), but I didn't have the money for that. It's the crappiest feeling ever.

Keep your chin up, I'm sure you'll find the perfect bird for you
