I was wondering how long does it take to have your irn to talk? I talk to it every day. And do a lot of repeating. She/he is 5months old.
It does a lot of screeching.

There is no time limit for any specie of bird to learn to talk.....while some birds may talk better than others, it is totally up to the individual bird whether it does in fact learn to talk.....

Similarly, there is no magic CD or training method, other than just repeating words to the bird, to teach it to talk.....

Good luck.....

I had no intentions of getting a cd to get her to talk, I just thought at 5 months that she would be able to say something.

Pippin is 7 months old now and is making more "conversational" type sounds, but I don't expect that he will say any words for a while still. At this stage, it's more like he is just exploring what his "voice" can do...

:D

You can no expect them to start talking at certain age, she's still young yet and she's still learning about the world surrounding her. Be patient!

I'm not sure how old Bobby is. He was sold to the previous owner supposed to be 8mths old, they had him for 6mths, then got a baby grey and wanted to get re-home him.

We've had Bobby nearly 4mths now and he's had a massive moult and starting to get his black ring. So, I'm more incline to think he's approaching 3 rather than 2 years old. His leg ring also says 10, so thinking more in line with this being his hatch year.

He doesn't talk yet, but he's started to copy our whistling. Hoping he will gain confidence here and talk to us eventually. I keep thinking he's trying but he's pretty low when he does.

:)

I was just told from a pet store that they don't talk at all, and if they do they are not very clear. And if I wanted one that talks I should have gotten a grey.

They are incorrect

I know of a breeder who has a flight full of talkers! And the store is full of it, not all greys will talk, I know I have one! LOL
