talking ability?

It must be something with the GCC. Mine is constantly saying "are you a good boy" or "being a good boy". His voice is a little gruff but he is understandable. He is not a loud bird. My quaker on the other hand is very loud.

Our gcc is quite the talker, too.

So far her vocab includes:

Guava (her name)
Guava baby
Hi Guava
Hey baby
Come here, Guava
Give me kiss
Good morning
Good night (not as regularly yet)
I love you (not as regularly yet)

and a ton of kissing sounds

I would rather have a bird making bird sounds than speaking english...

My quaker, Shrek, would always ask: whatsyadoing... and I would always tell him what I was doing at the moment...

Having a bird call me 'mummy' would freak me out... I wouldn't be able to leave the house!

Some birds in a house with babies learn to cry like a baby... for the next 60 years! I would go crazy...

Believe me there is nothing more awesome than a bird calling his guardian Mommy. Whenever Mishka wants me, he calls me Mommy or mum, then I know he wants to talk or wants something.

You have to be extremely carefully what the bird hears, bad language etc (A baby crying) that would irritate me as well.

When leaving home and say goodbye to your loved ones, leaving a bird is exactly the same.

There is no guarantee that any species of bird will talk.
Some birds become brilliant talkers, whereas other may only say a few words.
Some birds may prefer whistling, rather than talking.

I live in an apartment, with my Congo African Grey Mishka.

Mishka will be 5 years old in November.
He talks non-stop 24/7 - Jokes aside this carries on ALL day.
We have never had one complaint, we live in a complex with 18 apartments, and two other complexes extremely close by.

I must mentioned when Mishka became extremely loud, I did put a stop to it quickly...... took a few days, now he never goes overboard.

Mishka wakes up at 5.00am each morning, being extremely vocal

Mishka is so cute... That whining puppy noise is adorable...

Birds are amazing, they way they imitate anything they like and hear.
Now when waking up in the morning, I whisper to him shuuuu Stevie boy is still sleeping. He replies shuuuuuu mommy.
That is adorable.

I must say the GCC conure I had spoke his first word at 5 months and never stopped. He was a wonderful talker, almost better than my grey Rosie. She talks but prefers to make sounds and whistles.

now that my fiance and myself are quitting smoking, I'll actually be able to afford a grey next year. I was gonna get a gcc, but then my fiance asked me if I'd rather have a grey instead, pretty much a no-brainer imo ;)

thanks, I just hope that he/she will get along with our two cats and isn't TOO noisy for our apartment ;)

Rosie and Rosie both say "I love you", though Rusty's detail is more discernible. Both also say "Night night!" several times after I turn out the lights...

Tybbi says "Hi Dave!" and "How are you?"

Sure it will all be okay
We live in an apartment, Steven (the animal) Mishka and myself, never had a problem with noise.

Not sure on GCC for talking, my 3 month old sun talks a little but sunnies are pretty much the loudest birds out there. She is learning not to scream, but its a process. My two neighbors both love her so they have been very forgiving. We do intervene quickly when she gets her yell on though.

One thing that has been working with Kiyomi is putting her on top of the cage and walking away when she starts screaming. She is slowly learning that no one wants to play when she yells. Now that she's learned to say "mama", when I put her down and walk away she quiets pretty quickly and calls me back.

My sun is only home alone for 4 hours a day on a given day too so that helps.
