Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
Last night, while BB was on my shoulder and I was on the phone,he fluffed up and shook himself pretty good and I felt a drop on my arm,and when I looked,it was RED
I freaked out..hung up,and grabbed at the poor boy all the while he was yelling at me. I looked him over real good and found nothing..I even made him open his little beaky to see if I could see red..but nothing.

He acted fine..was talking and playing..he ate and drank water. I kept looking and looking and found no more "red" anywhere. I got up twice last night just to check on him and he peeped at me.

This morning I woke him up early just to have a look and he started in with his usual happy sounds, but then I noticed one of his tail sleeves was a little screw-gee...like it was about to fall out.

later today he flew from his house to me here at the computer.
When I got up to get a drink of water I found a tail feather on the floor and I looked closely at the shaft, and right at the end was a bit of dried "red"..I'm sure it was blood..

He is fine..whistling and singing in my ear as I type..SCARED ME!!

Young bird, crashing about will twist tail feather, even new ones! And, this one is very likely a newer feather.

I truly believe that young birds do this to set their Humans into crazy land for a few minutes.

And, in the back ground Amy is likely saying something like: The little tweek got him stirred-up yet again!

my conure did this within the first few months of me having her and as a first time bird mom I had a heart attack! She was clipped when we first got her and she attempted to jump from her play stand and her new tail feather got caught and ripped right out....

Haha! This thread reminds me of what CooCoo'Nut's tail used to look like when he was first learning to fly :D

He certainly looked like some electrocuted nutcase back then... now he's beautiful with every feather perfectly in place but is still a hyperactive wacko NEVER sits still! hehe :p

Thats how my bird Bee's tail was. She twisted so many tail feathers off while learning to climb the bar cages. Hers are not perfect, since she is still young, but not a jumbled mess anymore! She scared me so many times in her first month. That's just what hey do i guess!:white1::eek::eek:
