Green cheek conure - Sydney (Syd) Hatched 2/2017
Usually an easy chap to get along with Syd has blotted his copybook! I know he's a bit hormonal and moulting, so not at his best, and I know he is wary of red but I have a super cuddly new dressing gown which is a dark red wine colour. I thought that as it wasn't bright red it would be ok.

It isn't!

He has been a bit tentative for a week when I go to get him up. Normally he would step up on a piece of perch and sit patiently while I carry him to his day cage, do his first big poop there and we are set for the day. Over the last few days he has become increasing reluctant. I assumed he would get over it. This morning I went to get him up at 7.45pm and was greeted with a complete refusal. In desperation I left him there and left all the doors open for him to fly himself to his breakfast. At 10am he still hadn't appeared.

Still a complete refusal. It ended with me carrying him in his sleep cage to his day cage where he joyfully flew in and started a very late breakfast. I guess I am going to have to dispense with my lovely cuddly dressing gown before I get him up in the mornings. Goodbye lazy starts to my days!

Syd 1 : Cuddly DG 0 :( I guess the transition is complete - I obviously board with him now!

Ohhh poor cuddling mood boosting ( for you) dressing gown....gosh darn it!

I feel for you I got an extra so soft pink tie dye t shirt, but classy tie dye. It was so pretty so soft. Pikachu my most easy going guy hated it and flipped out on sight. Screaming anger and panic....sigh I had to give the shirt to my mom....

Just why????? Lol

LOL I'm not done yet! I paraded before him wearing it for an hour, and he came to investigate it and flew onto my shoulder. Since my shower etc it has been draped over the back of a chair near his cage and I may well put it on over my clothes at bedtime when I take him to bed. I think he just forgets it's still me in the mornings. I have decided that he is still the boarder!

Update - Day 2 - This morning Syd started out trying to repeat yesterday's stand-off. I took the easy way out and before he could get really entrenched produced a sunflower seed. By positioning it strategically so that he could only reach it by stepping up that's what he did and we were off to his day cage without any fuss.

Did I cheat? Well may be just a little! He will do anything for a sunflower seed. :) LOL
