I've been away from my laptop for a while, so I wasn't able to really respond to anyone, sorry! My phone is nice for a lot of things, but writing up forum posts is not one of them.
My little miss helps soooooooo much with my anxiety it it's not even funny. I remember how bad it got preparing to bring her home last year but holy guacamole she makes it all worth it! You totally got this!
Cheerios are her favorite treat and she will occasionally go for a sunflower seed. also some birds like dried fruit bits as a treat so just try different things. Sometimes espresso will do tricks for a popsicle stick to chew. So much about bringing a new fid home is trial and error...doesn't help us anxious folks at all hahhahaha. I'm so glad the aviary is so helpful that must really help!
I'm sorry to hear that you also have anxiety, but it's kind of comforting to know I'm not alone. My little monsters help with my anxiety, but only so much. My Little One is going to essentially force me to get it under control, which is the sort of push I need. This time is just really stressful, as you know, because making sure you get everything right is really nerve-destroying haha
My last big thing for LO is to get a proper carrier. I think I'm going to get a folding travel cage, and make a little cover for it so she can feel secure. I actually bought the fabric yesterday haha
I saw it online and felt like it was PERFECT for a warm weather security wall, and had to go to the store to get it while it was on sale!
I've hung pieces of fleece up on sides of the cage for the monsters when I was unable to place them against a wall, and it helps them feel so much safer. I'm trying to be very careful to walk the line between helping LO feel safe and secure, and to also push her to get used to new experiences so she doesn't develop a phobic personality.
Precious photos, Britt! Little One is growing up so fast, and has the most adorable smile! I'm so happy for you! Little One is about to join a very lucky flock of birdies and already has an amazing mom.
That is so kind of you to say

Thank you. I'm trying my best to be a good grey momma! It's a bit intimidating. I'm so used to my little guys, and I've raised them to be kind of independent and entertain themselves, but still be really excited to spend time with me. I've been doing this so that I will be able to slip away for a bit during the day to spend alone time with LO in the other room. I don't think LO will get along too well with my monsters, especially Genevieve. Gené is a bit too pushy and I'm pretty sure she'd terrify my poor Little One. I don't want to risk an accident happening.
And everyone else, just thank you so much! I'm so incredibly excited

I'm also super stoked about the idea of LO being a girl, even more than the possibility of a boy now.
I'm so smitten.
